HI Sherrie- I noticed in another thread that you mentioned you used a conair (cheapie) flatiron to remove shrinkies.

I am wondering if the conair iron also worked to install shrinkies? I have a conair flatiron- very narrow with 25 heat settings and I'm thinking of getting some shrinkies to try out. I don't want to kick down for the heat tool until I am sure that I like the shrinkies. What is your experience/opinion?
Thanks,
Saucyblossom

saucyblossom, yep I used it to install them too. It worked great and I didnt find it awkward to use, because its so narrow. I think it might work ok to do a full head. Im going to try it before I shell out for a new fusion wand. Heres a link to the one that I have. I purchased it from walmart for $15. But I couldnt find it on walmarts website so I posted another site

Hi Sherrie,

Thats the same one I have, what heat setting did you use and approximately how long did you leave it on? I had a problem with them not shrinking at all.

Em

hey Em, I think I had it turned up pretty high but not all the way, dang it...I didnt pay that much attention when I was installing since I was on a mission to try the removal so I could post back to the board on what I tried! I did crank it up all the way when I removed some of them. And some actually broke and rolled up into a little ball (almost like a rubberband does when it gets stretched too far) does that make any sense? So I dont think you would want to try installing them with the flatiron cranked high!

Oh by the way Em which shrinkies are you using? I think I read they were the ones from cableorganizer? Or are they docs?

I picked up some heat shrink tubing from my local electrical supply store. It has the adhesive in it. I think that may have been my problem then, cause I had mine cranked up as high as it would go and it melted the glue but didnt shrink the tubing at all. Ill have to experiment some more with it.

hmmm, I wonder if the different results are from the different shrink tubing. Maybe they are different, so they will have different results?

I would imagine so. And the tubing I got was black, that may be a factor also. I havnt called her back yet to see if she could get it in clear.

Honestly, all of the photos of standard heat-shrink tubing look different to me than doc's shrinkies. The tubing looks thicker somehow. Could this be why it's performing somewhat differently for some people? :)

The tubing I got is very thin, thinner than a drinking straw and very pliable, kinda rubber like. If I could figure out the shrinkage problem I think they would be very comfortable to wear.
