Hi Kirsty!

I love 3/4 falls and wear them often when I go out at night. I think they're much easier to deal with than regular wigs, because they have sturdy combs inside that you can just affix to your own hair; they're quite secure. The only drawback is I don't think they'd work well if you have heavy bangs. Here's a demo of how they work: http://www.internationalwig.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SAddon3Q - http://www.internationalwig.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SAddon3Q

Generally, I'd say you want a pretty good color match--pretty much as close as you'd want for extensions. You can wear them about 1 1/2 to 3 inches back from your hairline.

I either wear them with a headband, in which case I just pin all my hair back in barettes or clips and attach the comb falls to that, or brush my top hair over the fall, in which case I tease the hair underneath first add some pins, then attach the combs to that hair and brush my own remaining top hair over it.

I've only ever bought synthetic falls, so I don't know anything about human ones, but I've been quite happy overall with my 3/4 purchases.

Good luck! :)

I would love to be able to wear a 3/4 fall but my hair on top is too thin to comb over and hide the fall.

Mine's quite thin, too, so I usually wear headbands. Some of the falls are easier to conceal than others, too, because some lay flatter on the head. (I've never known how they're going to look, of course, until I receive them in the mail.) :)

Well, I've ordered most of them over the Internet, from International Wig and various eBay sellers. Again, I've only ordered synth, but I've had pretty good luck with them.

As far as them hurting, no--I'd say they're pretty comfortable, more so than clip-on ponytails, anyway, because the weight is more distributed. However, having too much tension on any one part of your head every day can cause breakage, so you should be careful in positioning the fall securely and perhaps moving it a half-inch or so forward or back every so often.

:)

Oh, and International Wig has an excellent selection of styles, although they are not the quickest as far as delivery (I'm waiting for an order now, and need to call them up). Their prices aren't necessarily the cheapest either, but I haven't really shopped around much. :)

Hmm...well, they usually have a color chart, including highlighted-blend options, if your hair isn't a solid shade. But beyond that, it's pretty much hit or miss. I actually think they're easier to match than extensions, though, because your real hair only shows in the front, and most people's hair is a little darker at the roots or lighter in the front. Good luck! :)
