wHEN You do a head of extensions, how much do you up the price on the cost of hair? I've heard of salons upping the price 100 - 300%. Is this correct? because it seems like that's what everybody does.

I believe that alot of salons up the price on hair ALOT sometimes. I dont think thats right at all. I can understand the salon or stylist covering their costs and adding that on, accordingly. But I think they should charge you honestly for the cost of the hair. I may be wrong here...but thats my honest opinion!

It does seem like that's what a lot of extensionists and salons do, but imo, it's not right. I can understand a service fee for getting the hair, but if you're paying (usually very high) prices for the service, I don't think you should have to pay a 100% or more mark-up on the hair, too.

I think maybe that they look at it like they're a regular retail store. Wedding-ring sellers mark up, say, a Tocari ring by 500%, and that's normal, so I guess salons think they can mark up their hair for selling it.
...Which I totally don't get, btw. Especially in this lovely day and age of online ordering. The process of actually buying the hair takes me like 10 minutes at most. Get the deposit from the customer, go to the vendor's website, click, click, click, done. What part of that process, exactly, deserves me getting paid $300 for? Now I charge for shipping and materials and for my own expenses, 'cause I'm not gonna pay for that out of my own pocket, but "markup" just strikes me as getting paid for work you didn't do.

Plus, I get the impression that most extensionists aren't getting a "wholesale" price anyway. It's as if they're getting retail and the customer is paying double-retail. Grrrrr...........
