I got my shrinkies. Love em'. I used the flatiron to install and remove no problems there. ..... But I'm wondering how much of the extension hair plug/tip should be sticking out the end of the shrinkie after it's shrunk?

Should I be careful not to push it in too far? or did I make my tips too long to begin with? Should I snip the ends that are sticking out off, or redo the strand?
Thanks for your comments=^..^=

Its my understanding that nothing should be sticking out of the top and if you cut the tip off you will promote shedding.

I had a lot of trouble getting the shrinkie flush with the top of my tip, so this last time around I put the tip in the shrinkie and just barely heated one side of it so that the tip stuck to the shrinkie.

It didn't really shrink the shrinkie, it just made it stick to the tip so that I didn't have total chaos (and it was one less thing to hang onto whilst putting all of this on my own head).

I "pre-tipped" all my tips with shrinkies before I started the installation on my head and felt that it saved a bit of time and trouble.

The down side of this would be that you probably couldn't use a latch-hook type needle, but I used a v-shaped piece of wire that worked fine.

If you try this, don't use a lot of heat--just barely enough to make it tacky, otherwise you might cook the shrinkie so much that it's spent.

Hope this helps!

Great idea! Thanks. I'll try "pretipping with the shrinky" next time.

My liquid gold/nail glue tips are pretty long, so I did snip them off- and it seems ok so far- but the glued part of the extension still goes all the way past the bottom a little of the shrinky as well.

My problem really is getting the shrinky flush with the top of the glued tip by myself.
