There are basically two different methods you're referring to here: extendtubes and shrinkies. These are also known by other names, but these are the best brands: extendtubes by Hairpiece.com, and shrinkies by Doc Locks.
Here's the extentube kit: http://www.hairpiece.com/product.asp?pf_id=APE151 - http://www.hairpiece.com/product.asp?pf_id=APE151 These are attached to the hair with pliers--no glue, no braiding--just the pretipped hair, the extendtubes, and the pliers. The advantages are cost effectiveness, easy application and removal, they're pretty undectable, and no glue or heat is used. The disadvantages may include slippage.
The clear tubes, or shrinkies, are basically heat-shrinkable tubing with a bit of adhesive inside that is atttached with a fusion wand. Here's the demo: http://www.drlocks.net/shrinkiesprebond/index.htm - http://www.drlocks.net/shrinkiesprebond/index.htm The advantages are: very, very undetectable, fairly secure, farily easy application and removal. The disavantages are that you have to but a fusion wand (if you don't have one) and it does involve some glue.
Good luck! :) :)
