Does anyone else have trouble matching their natural hair to their clip-on extensions?

My husband is telling me the color I got is too light.
I have a reddish tint to my medium brown hair.
The extensions are "medium brown' but look almost light brown with no red tint.
Has anyone had this happen and what did you do to correct it?
Thanks

Just color your extensions as you would do with your own hair. I do this all the time.

Great- thanks Kim.
Just noticed you're in NJ- I was born and raised there!

Ditto. Coloring them should be perfectly fine, especially if you're going darker, rather than lighter. But just make sure to watch them carefully, because they will probably respond differently to the dye than your own hair. Also, you may want to wash them before you dye them, if they're new and have that initial silicone coating on them.

I've generally found that extensions hair is always more resistant to dye than my own (of course, the extensions have already been dyed and processed so I'm sure that has something to do with it). Also, I'm always trying to get them lighter, which can be iffy.

Good luck! :)

semi permanent colors work great on extension hair. It seems to hold the color better than permanent colors. But that holds true for any hair that is really porous or highly processed.

Thanks guys- I did it!
I colored mine with semi-permanent, then the extensions.
Came out perfectly.

Thanks for all the help.
