I finished installing my shrinkies last nite... the color is so pretty...But I look like I have a mullet! My crown layers are about 4 inches long. I tried layering- That didn't help. It looked choppy, even after I used my texture shears on th ends. So I took down the ones I cut... if I can't get this in check I'm gonna have to take them all out. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bless you chick. If I've got a client that's got shorter layers at the top, I just explain to her that if I don't work right up so there is some weight overlapping her hair then she will have a mullet, otherwise if she's concious of the bonds then I advise her to wax and hairspray down the "mullett" xx

Gina, did you put your whole head of shrinkies in yourself?! I got my shrinkies and heat clamp in the mail yesterday and put a few trial strands last night. So far I think they're fantastic - as the English girls would say, 'brill' - but I'm not good at putting them in yet. Maybe it's one of those practice makes perfect things. I'm having someone put my whole head on Thursday, at least this first time. As far as the mullet goes, that's a problem. My last weft installation was a total mullet! Hated that. I'm hoping a full head of shrinkies will avoid that look.

good luck with that! when you have a significantly shorter top layer, the only thing you can do to camoflauge it is flatiron the top layer as straight as you can and try to use product (serum, pomade) to try to blend it in with the rest..... You could create soft waves with a big barrel curling iron as well, bring the curls close to the root and that should mask it too. The only way to fix it is to style your hair...Theres no way around it.

Thanks all for the advice! Sorry, I've been away. 2 system crashes in 2 weeks! Damn my luck!!! Syren... My friend helped in the back we used to work in a salon together but have gone different directions. We keep in touch. You said you loved the shrinkies...they are very uncomfortable to me. I'm considering a new thread to discuss this. Inna...Italiana- There was no flat iron in the world to disguise this mullet. I have a fitted bob with lots of texture. Loose curls helped, though. Bridget...Yeah I got my shrinkies... I'm not completely sold yet. Like I said above...they're uncomfortable and I've had about 15 come out in three days. About MB...no, but my system keeps crashing. So, IMO I'll just use the weft with LG, 1" bellow parts and I used 2 wefts in my crown to blend the mullet. I even attached a few shrinks on the wefts for hilites. I guess I'll keep practicing till i find what works best

Okay, Gina...when you open that thread about shrinkies, I'll be right behind you. Had about 1/2 my head put in with shrinkies today and I'm about 2 hours into them. I'm withholding judgment until tomorrow morning. Lucky you to have a friend to help you do them. Mine took 5 hours.

Ooh, Gina, a bob is the worst. I work professionally, and if someone wants extensions but has a bob, I usually have to turn them away. There's that awful ridge right where the real hair ends, and nothing for it except maybe a ponytail.
As far as un-mullety goes...put the extensions as close to your hairline as you can get without them showing. For very thick hair, sometimes you can get within a half-inch of the hairline or part. And then cram in as many extensions as you can!
