I know some of you have been unhappy dealing with Liquid Gold. Complaints have ranged from...well...you know what your personal issues were with it - tacky, lid gumming up on you, etc, etc.
I have finished about 30 tips with Gorilla Glue and I'd post a photo of them but there's really no point because they look just like the tips I made that are featured on Kristin's site here: http://www.haircandy.net/pretip.htm - http://www.haircandy.net/pretip.htm
Gorilla Glue is waterproof, golden brown, honey-hued in color and very fluid type glue. Because of the small amount used, it dries completely clear and there is no applicator or brush included - it simply comes out of the spout on top.
I want to make this clear - a little Gorilla Glue goes a LONG LONG way. I can't stress this enough. You need half or less the amount than LG. A popsicle stick or something similar will be needed when you fan the tip out and apply the glue. Application is the same as LG.
Work on a safe surface like a glossy magazine page or envelope. Put just a spot of glue (about pencil tip size) on the tip, press the glue onto the hair so that it fans the tip and push the excess to the tip and off. It will not look like a lot of glue is in there but trust me, it is. When doing subsequent tips, you may not even need more glue, there will be enough sometimes on your work surface to use.
Gorilla Glue, if too much is applied, will expand and make your tips very soft and enlarged. USE SPARINGLY and allow to cure for at least an hour or more. You should never handle it when tacky. After it's dried and does not stick to your finger, roll the tip and apply a light coating of nail glue over it. It will feel and look like a professional tip.
Gorilla Glue is readily available in hardware stores and if you do a search on eBay, you'll see some bargains.
Any questions, feel free to post them.

Thanks, AMM. That sounds like a good alternative.
Not to be an alarmist or anything, but I just want to stress that everyone should be careful when using this stuff. As I understand it, Gorilla Glue is a urethane glue, and although the packaging claims it's non-toxic, this review does say that it's relatively toxic to the touch, so perhaps it's best to wear gloves or finger condoms: http://www.thistothat.com/gom/2000.02.shtml - http://www.thistothat.com/gom/2000.02.shtml .
Apparently, Liquid Gold is made with dioxane, which is also somewhat toxic: http://www.checnet.org/healthehouse/chemicals/chemicals-cat.asp - http://www.checnet.org/healthehouse/chemicals/chemicals-cat.asp
Again, not trying to freak anyone out here. There's always some level of risk with any chemicals, but I do think trying to avoid direct skin contact would be wise.
Also, I'm obviously not a doctor or a chemist, so anyone correct me if I'm off here.
:)

Yes be very careful when using glue that is not medical grade.
I spent a long while at my Home Depot one day, reading the packages of all the different types of glue they had. Most of them said they were harmful if you got them on your skin. But most of them did say that they were only toxic when they were still wet. As a glue dries it releases a toxic vapor. Once it dries, its fine and no longer toxic. I read the review you posted and I checked out the Gorilla Glue website but I couldnt find anywhere where it said it was only toxic when wet. Looks like Ill be making another trip to the glue aisle.
