hey everyone,
I was wondering which method I could use to have long hair. I want the hair length to be all arond not just the back to tie it up. enough to tie it up in a bun .

Heres a pic of my hair its type dry because of the weather in new york but its curly and thick

Hello:O) Your hair looks pretty curly to me so my opinion is to have a weave done. Go to a stylist who could do tracks (braids) and have hair sewn onto it (the track braids). I just ordered Bliss hair and even though they sent me the wrong order I did get to pre-view the hair and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Good Luck!

D'you want it curly like that, or straight? If you want it any other texture, you'll have to either have it relaxed or braided over- either in a weave, like someone else was saying, or in braid extensions. Have you considered that? I think shoulder-length braids would look good on you.

I agree about the braids. I was getting my hair braided in NYC and this guy came in and got his hair braided. they added some synthetic hair to it to make his corn rows longer.

It's hard to pull extensions back in a bun unless you get a sew in. with the fusion and shrinkies you risk exposing them, especially with your hair being so short, you may have a hard time covering them like those pics of Paris Hilton floating around the net.

I second the braids idea. I also think dreads would look really good on you. :)

I think for a newcomer Dreads would be a bit hard. I posted a site for you with some cornrow pictures.

Definitely, if he plans on doing them himself. But on the other thread, I think Jay mentioned that he was willing to pay up to $800, so I assume he wants to get them done.

Either way--braids or dreads--you can't go wrong. The other thing you need to keep in mind about loose extensions is that they're a lot of work, requiring much more care and styling time than most men want to invest in their hair; braids and dreads are much easier in that regard.

Seriously, Jay, loose extensions are a pain in the ass if you're the type of person who likes to shower and go in the morning. I have more patience for daily maintenance than most people do, imo, and I'm at the end of my rope! Dreads and braids are good 'cause they always look great--no styling necessary.

Perhaps someone knows websites with pictures of guys with braids, dreads, and loose extensions, so Jay can browse around and get an idea of what they might look like?

:)
