People like to use dif things as shine sprays (therefore I use "shine spray" loosely). I liked to use shine sprays in my human ext as well as my synth ext. The reason I use shine sprays is to be able to brush through almost like a detangler and to be able to keep tangles out throughout the day. Here are different things I use and have heard of other people using to the best of my knowledge and price points (to the best of my knowledge.) Expensive - Salon ------------------------------------------- Redken Glass $15 My stylist used this on me. No love or disdain. Biosilk Therapy Treatment $11 - $85 I have only had a beautician use this on my real hair once. You would think this stuff is liquid gold for how much it costs. I have heard that an extensionist Heather in Atlanta loves this stuff (she lives in synth) and have only read positive reviews. Unfortunately, I am not willing to spend the cash. You may be able to get a deal on Ebay, though. There are a lot of Biosilk products, just make sure you are getting the right one! (i do use the conditioner, the generic version from sally's) here's the biosilk therapy treatment (liquid gold)  Mid Range - Grocery Store/ Pharmacy ------------------------------------------- Extreme Shine $6 I use this. I used about a an inch worth in two weeks. (i don't know how else to quantify it, sorry)  CitreShine ***SERUM*** $8 I did use this, then I left the bottle tip open and it fell over (cat accident) and it leaked all over my sink, so if you use it, don't forget to close it. I didn't like this thick goo. I didn't like the citris smell either, but you might. You don't have to use a lot imho. A lot of people love this product. p.s. leia says :if you use it on your own hair, go lightly, especially at the top. If you use too much you get that greasy look.  Citre Shine Spray $5 I have never used this but Jenny has. It's a thinner spray version of the above. Probably similar to the Extreme Shine only smells like citris.  Dirt Cheap - Tricks ------------------------------------------- Braid Spray - ANY BRAND - $4 or less Found in the ethnic section of the grocery store, bss, or walmart. The kind walmart carries in my town is in a yellow bottle, but any of these would do.   Baby Oil Gel Name Brand $4 Generic ? Recommended by Doc Locks herself. "Works wonders and feels just like the citre shine stuff"  Pink Hair Glosser $4 This is similar to other "shine sprays" but it is more like oil (in fact I think it IS oil.) You have to use it lightly bc a little goes a loooong way. The smell may take a little getting used to. This is found in the ethnic aisle or area. My grocery store doesn't carry it but it carries other PINK products. (it is a name brand)They PROBABLY carry it at sally's but def carry it as bss. My walmart carries it.  Deceiving ------------------------------------------- Don't be deceived... some bottles say SHINE SPRAY but are a different kind. They will have alcohol in them. They will spray out oily but dry like hairspray. Great for curly hair to brush out and dry straight but not good for extension bc they will dry up and start matting right away. I do a test spray at the store (and feel guilty but I don't want to pay $7 for the wrong product and one spray will tell me!) What would you like to add? ------------- i love plastikhaar |

Hey Mer, I use Citre Shine, but not the kind you posted. That's a thicker, serum-y version, but there's a thinner, spray version, too, that works pretty well and is cheap. It does have that citrus-y smell, though. Smooth & Shine also has an inexpensive version that works OK. I'm dying to try that Extreme Shine now. Yeah, I've gotten burned buying the thicker stuff before, too. Now I always turn the bottle upside down to see if it's thick or thin. I would never use a gel or liquid "glosser" for synth hair. It just sits on top of it and makes it too piecy greasy and seperated looking. Unless that's what you're going for? I didn't even realize there's a CitreShine Serum. I've always bought the spray, myself. I started using it on my synth falls simply because I already had some. Before that, I had tried spraying some leave-in conditioner I had in a bottle. It was better than nothing. I'll look into the stuff you recommended, Boogiemama. Oh, and I love BioSilk Silk Therapy for my real hair (so it might be nice on human hair extensions). I wouldn't use it on synth extensions, though...too expensive (the best deal I've ever found was $13 for a 6 oz bottle). Time to try the Sally's generic version. ------------- |

Yip, Biosilk I love!! I use it on human Indian hair and love it. I use it straight after I shampoo & condition the wefts. I also love Matrix-Biolage Shine renewal Spray, which you want to use spairingly or it will look too greasy. I spray a light mist on a vent brush first, then brush down the mid-lengths and ends only. My third choice is Bain De Terre-Recovery Shine Serum, again use sparingly and smooth down the hair. I have never tried synth hair so can't comment on that...sorry |

Thanks for this thread MERGUTHRIE, I had some of the baby oil gel and I tried it this morning and I've found a new staple. I love it on my curly weave. I can see I'll have to wash my hair more but I love how it makes the curls keep from swelling. ------------- |
