Her hair is sooo beautiful.... www.prettyeclectic.com/gallery.php?section=extensions_nat&imageNum=3/ Any of you experienced gals willing to give me tips on how to achieve this look?  I see that the extensionist incorporated four different shades. Looks as if the she randomly switched colors until she came to the part line and then used mainly two shades of blonde. Is there any specific pattern I should use to get this look, or is it just random? I'm just scared to attempt it because I know that I will mess it up and it will looking scary. ahhh help!~Stacy~ |

Stacy, check out the magnets at the top of the board. They are the 'extensions 101' link and the 'Bridget your question is here' link. Then I would say check out Kristins website www.haircandy.net for more inspiration if you like that look. I think the best way of achieving the look is with a strand by strand method. The shrinkies method is easy or the microlinks/extendtubes being the least expensive and easiest for a newbie, Any specific questions, just ask away! This is a very helpful and friendly board! I've checked out Kristen's gallery, and she does beautiful work. I already everything I need for the microring method. I was just not sure how to arrange all those different colors when placing them in my hair. Perhaps I should just stick to a solid color for my first time. Yeah, I figured that was what you were asking since I was wondering the same thing lol I ended up just getting two shades of brown for mine, just to make it look a little more natural instead of throwing in some blonde highlights because I just wasn't sure how to place them and didn't want to worry about too much, being my first attempt at extensions. Should highlights be higher and lowlights be lower on the head, is that a good rule of thumb? I don't know anythign about coloring, and my one attempt at highlights was attrocious. Although I have seen all sorts of funky colors, all over the head, so there are no set rules. Just play around and see what looks good. That is the fun part of this, I am thinking. I can't wait to play around, I am just nervous for the first time. I would say, (and I have decided) to just play with it and see. After installing my basic colors, I am going to play with clip in highlights to figure out how many and where to place them. And what shades blend the best. Good luck. I need it too  ------------- |

 I achieved this look by doing three rows of one colour then alternating the colours and then finishing with two/two one one two two one one etc then a few light blonde around the top x |

Wow.... I wish i could do that That hair looks amazing, Amanda. Your pattern for hair placement was very helpful.... that was exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. SqueezetheShaman, experiementing with clip in funky colors, or any color really, is a great idea. I'll have to get some! Anyone know if Kristen is still selling those funky colored strands? I'll keep you girls posted with what my hair looks like afterwards... as well as how Outre Gold human hair holds up. I was going to go with Boyme but this hair was irresistable in the shop. Hopefully it's not too crappy. Thanks for all the help! ------------- |
