Hi everyone! :) I need to do some pretipping before the weekend to get my hair in. I have bulk human hair and didn't order any lg or anything online to pretip. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for what kind of glue I could use? I'm under the impression that If I take care of the hair and use a pretipping adhesive that doesn't melt under heat when using shrinkies and heat clamp I can remove shrinkies and use the hair a second time? I was wondering what criteria a glue should meet to use on bulk hair for pre tipping for shrinkies? I was wondering if super glue would work as that dries really hard and would be similar to a nail glue on the exterior of the pretip? I have read a lot about latex based glues for pretipping is this a good thing or bad thing and why? I have also heard about people using fusion glues like sticks in a glue gun or hot pot but I was thinking if I was to use that and then use the shrinkies and when applying the heat clamp would my pretips not melt down and then merge as one whole bond with the shrinkie not being able to use it again? Maybe I could pick something up form the hardware store? Any help would be so very much appreciated! :) Sincerely Charzbella Just another spunky hair junky

Well, I know that some people have used latex with success (from the beauty supply store), and AMM has also used Gorilla Glue (available at hardware stores), so you might want to try one of those. :) Oh, you could also use Keratin, but it'd be a bit more involved and time-consuming, I think. :) ------------- http://www.beautyaddictmag.com - www.beautyaddictmag.com |

That Gorilla Glue is rockin stuff but I recommend doing just a few strands and letting them cure overnight before you try an entire weft. GG expands like you wouldn't believe. Cool thanks so much :) I have looked at gorilla glue online and I know of a brand that is here. But I did however find another brand so I'm not sure. The Gorilla glue we have here there is an assortment of types its known to be very strong and has different purposes per product heres a link to the gorilla glue that I know of Im not sure if this is the same one that would be good for hair that you mentioned? Charzbella, I wouldnt use super glue. It would be difficult to roll the strands into a uniform tip before the super glue hardened, and then your fingers would be glued together also! But definitely use the nail glue over the tip, after you've done them with whatever glue you decide to use. Yes I thought that might happen I remember do acrylic tips with superglue after running out of nail glue and my fingers stuck to each other lol. Ok so need a barrier got it :) that makes sense hehe. I got a couple new glues to expirement with, so I'll give you all info on how they hold up when I wear the test strands. I got Crafter's Pick Fabric Glue (I figure if its safe enough to use on fabric, it should be safe enough to use on hair) - its flexible, dries clear, you can wash it, and its waterproof. Has the same creamyness and consistancy as white latex bonding glue. it was $3.99 for a 4 oz tube I ALSO got (cause it was on sale lmao) Industrial Strength E6000 "Medium Viscosity" glue, its a clear gel like glue, multi purpous, waterproof, flexible, yada yada same as before lol. it was on sale for $1.99 for a 3.7 oz tube. and I also got some super glue to finsh off the tips, I didnt do that before, but I have noticed a bit of shedding (a little, not enough to be alarmed though) so I fiured I'd give it a try. ------------- |

UPDATE - the fabric glue just crumbled after it was dry, so Im crossing it off the list. and the E6000 stuff, although gooey and sticky as all hell, dried totally clear and had a great bond. but then I read on the back "Warning: this product contains a chemical known to the state of californiato cause cancer" ugh. I dont want that next to my head. so uh... those were my two turds of a glue. ------------- |

Charzbella: That's so funny! I was reading your post and saw that you used the word "heaps" my boyfriend uses it ALL the time. As far as I know, a lot of these glues--LG and Gorilla included--are somewhat toxic when they're wet, so I would recommend using gloves during the pretipping process. :) ------------- http://www.beautyaddictmag.com - www.beautyaddictmag.com |

Yeah, I haven't tried it either...LOL! I think some people here use finger condoms and stuff. I guess it's just important to be careful (whatever that means...). hehe Im not too sure what E600 glue is. I tried superglue and it works a treat. It's thin so goes through each strand well. I have come up with a way after sticking my fingers to myself and working desk several times to avoid all contact with the glue. By fanning the hair either end a few lines of super glue across where i want the bond then quickly twisting the hair into a tight twist and let it set in a few seconds. I'm going to buy some bull dog clips so I can fan and twist and pinch the hair without getting my fingers close to the glue. The pre-tips seem to work really well so far.... I think lol. I will keep you posted :). Im a bit worried about the glue being wet like when in my hair and it being toxic now eek. I will have to try it out a bit first.
