ok so I was looking at some fusion kits online, and Ive found the usual keratin fusion systems, then I found monkey barz. Ive heard of it before but thought it was some special kind of system or something, it seems to be the same thing as reqular fusion. can someone tell me what makes this system diffrent from regular fusion? diffrent glue compound prehaps? thanks :) |

Eew! I didn't like that stuff at all. I thought it was very similar to the Torrain stuff (very waxy). My hair shed like crazy and the wax ended up becoming tackey to the touch. Yuck. Monkey Barz has been around a long time. I don't think there's too much difference between it and Mega Hair fusion. I believe both are glue gun methods. I have never used it because I don't care too much for fusion methods. I've heard the same, nothing newfangled about it. . .in fact I don't even think it's keratin glue. It's one of the systems that the pretipped hair (ie. Great Lengths) was supposed to be so far superior to. ------------- |

ahh ok. thanks :) - Im looking for a good fusion to pretip hair with (nail hair) then heat clamp it on that way. any suggestions? ------------- |

I have monkeybarz in now and I like it- it is pretty much the same as Dr locks fusion glue, except it is waxier and the bonds do "melt" after a while especially if they are exposed to anything oily. The monkey barz bonds are smaller than I have been able to get the Dr locks fusion glue, but I haven''t had very much practice w/ the dr. locks. THe monkeybarz bonds are also softer and more flexible - I have had No damage. THe (monkeybarz) bonds remove easily, maybe too easily. ------------- Early years are learning years, make them count! |

Kalika I couldn't find the thread...but I read a few nights back and Afropuffs said she liked Torrain because it is a waxier, more pliable bond and can be broken down with oil vs. crushing the harder bonds and using acetone. It caught my attention because I've only heard negatives about Torrain because its waxy. The way Saucy just put it...it makes sense to me. thanks Gina - I wouldnt mind playing around with diffrent fusion glues, but apparently this needs its own special gun and I can only find it in kits for $150 - which Im not willing to spend just for a few test strands. thanks everyone :) ------------- |

Kalika, if your planning on making pretipped hair to use with the fusion wand thats a little tricky. Preglued nailhair has that molded fingernail tip shape The tips are all uniform and consistant in size. I sure some type of a mold is used for that. And its a lot more glue. If your planning on using hair that is pretipped (like we do it for shrinkies). It isnt enough glue to bond into the hair like fusion. You would need to put alot of extra glue on the tip and let that harden. Then fuse them in with the wand. I think it would be hard to be uniform and consistant with getting the right amount of glue and the shape, so that when you clamp them in the heatwand to remelt them the bonds would all be the same size & length. Just my 2 cents. What do you think? Jenny - sorta, I was going to pretip them with the keratin glue for shrinkies, but use just fusion, on itty bitty strands, to do around the part lines :) ------------- |
