I am slowly but surely making progress.

Turns out I need to be in Atlanta next week for work, so I looked for an Atlanta-based extensionist. BINGO . . . I found a woman who not only is Dome-trained but was a Dome teacher!!!

I told her I'd like to bring my WaWa and PlastikHaar to her -- that from my understanding PH was comparable to Dome (THANKS JENNY for all your knowledge on this).

She was thrilled to find out about PH and said no problem -- bring it on! She's a hair nut and can't wait to see all my goodies!!

Oh yeah - and the charge for the whole head since I'm bringing my own hair - $275.

Now I gotta pray to the FedEx gods to make sure that PH is here by Wednesday!!

I'll keep you posted -- I couldn't have done this much without y'all. But I'll save my teary-eyed acceptance speech for after the installation!

Bridget,

I got my hair done by the Dome method one time and the extensions started slipping out immediately. Within 2 weeks, they had all slipped out, after I paid $400.

Did the stylist just not install them properly, or is that method just not good for fine, thin hair?

Thanks!

question:

if the dome method is dont by a box braid then heat-sealing a bit of the hair onto itself... how will that work with the heat resistant hair?

The Dome method is, by definition, done with Synthetic hair. The lady doing is said it's different from pinch braiding in that it's more like a 4-way macrame stitch. I'm basing my thought that PH can be used in place of Dome based on Jenny's experience.

Kalika, I'm gonna WOW you with my pics cuz I am SO BOLD I'm going to actually POST my pre- pics. . . YES. . .me with NO add-on hair (and this is also how I have to travel to Atlanta on Thursday morning -- maybe I'll wear a WIG!!). I'll also have her take in-process pics, and then, of course finals, then sexbomb photos which will no doubt be inevitable.

Boldly goes,
Fina

Yes after playing with the PH hair, I am definitely going to use some heat-resistant synth (WAWA) on the top layers.

Wow I love being my own guinea pig!!
