My first experience with pinchbraids: Between the braid and my scalp, it got dreaded up, in a matter of days. I even spoke with Sonia (rest in peace) the head of Hair Police on the phone and the nearest we can tell, my hair did not like the human hair, the cuticles clashed. I tried synthetic - the trimco or whatever its called and it slid right off my hair. On the drive home from getting them done, they slid. The woman who did it insisted that it was my hair, not her technique. So, I let her put in some Mark Barringtons, that was ok but I am not sure the heating device she used was hot enough. It looked frosted. I then got some dreads in for my trip to the Virgin Islands and some more human hair pinchbraided by another person - who couldnt blend very well but the pinchbraids and dreads stayed. In summary: Pinchbraid hh, pinchbraid synth, mark barrington, pinch braid hh with synth dreads, nothing for a while, full head o' dreads thats my user picture and now microrings. Whew! I am liking the microrings, just wish they werent so big. A woman stopped me at the store last night and told me she loved my hair, the color. Tonight when I was taking a bath, I noticed the water was tinted red, wondering if whatever they put on the hh to get it #31, its coming off. Hrm. Rose |

It's amazing how some methods work well on some heads and not on others. I've had the least slipping with pinchbraids, but obviously they weren't secure in your head. My hair also hates glue (and metal, usually), but it seems to work well for other people. Have you tried the smallest size extendtubes from hairpiece.com? Red tint in the water? Interesting. You've got dye bleeding. I sat behind a lady with striking auburn hair last summer at an outside sporting event in San Francisco and the light fog was making her hair damp. Her white sweater was turning PINK in front of my very eyes! Hairpiece.com has microrings in small that are amazingly thin. They flatten down to almost nothing. I've worn them high up near the crown and they're almost impossible to feel when I'd run my hand down over the top of them. I got some. Then when we were going to put them in, closer to the crown - realized I didnt get an xs hook for it. They look just like latch hook thingies. It is amazing how some methods work beautifully and others are, um, not so good at all. I swear Im still trying to grow my hair since the last bad experience. It feels thin to me. Rose, have you tried a piece of string instead of the hook? a bit hard to get at first, then all of a sudden...it was so easy, i wondered why everyone does not use a string, for examples look at kristen's site www.haircandy.net or i think his/her hair site might have directions... in the past, i spent days looking for a small latch hook - nobody could help - ended up ordering four of them from his/her and finally discovered the string... good luck octavia ------------- Faces of Pain - One woman's Journey with Chronic Pain www.octavaia@got-to-have-art.com A world without ART is a world without color GOT ART??? |

I was going to suggest the same thing octmac! hehe. I've heard dental floss, and fishing line work well too. As to the problem with your hair color, I've only seen that happen when I tried to dye some hair on my own. I've never had any fading of hair straight from the company.... hmmm.... My experience with my own hair is that more natural auburn is less likely to bleed than bright or blue-red, and the difference in bleeding can be huge. ------------- 
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask? |

I like the microrings, too. I've had them in over a week and only have had one slip. If you use the smallest ring, will that reduce some of the pieceness? I know that is going to happen will all strand by strand methods, but thought it might. Also, LOVE the threading wire to put them in. Got it from Kristen with the highlights I purchased and that is what my stylist used to do my head. I've used it to add some and it's great! ------------- |

Ya know, come to think of it I do have some threading wire, from when I ordered from Ms.Kristin. I ordered semi remi from super hair factory. There is also some Bohyme #27 for hilights. ------------- |
