It looks like the synth will not work for me since it looses it's wave. Awhile back someone posted that they live near this site - http://www.russianhair.net - http://www.russianhair.net
I wrote for a sample but did not hear from them yet. They have a telephone number so I am going to call and see if they send samples. They also seem to be cheaper than the Hawaiian hair place and I want to see if their hair has less gray in it. I am really leaning towards getting some of this type of hair because I want hair made from a cut ponytail since I am really tired of the matting. The Bliss hair right now is pretty good but it does mat in places throughout the day. It really surprises me that really good hair is so hard to find. Why is that? We are so advanced when it comes to computers and such but when it comes to extensions I feel like we are still in the dark ages.
Anyway, where is that person who was going to check this place out? Are you still out there?

It was me (or I). I work near there. And yes, I still want to go check them out, but...we've been receiving rain of biblical proportions lately so driving is taking your life in your hands. Hopefully the monsoon will stop and when it does, I'll track those russian hairs down and report back.

I was gonna buy from them a while back, but then I sa that their prices are per-ounce (not 4oz bundle like everywhere else) and that their wefts are 12 inches in length. Why on earth would 1 ounce of bulk cost $60, but one foot of weft (which is like 1 ounce, normally) cost $140?

See, that's exactly it. Why in the world be out real money - not $10, but $140 - when you don't even know what you're getting, and if you don't like it, there's no recourse - it's ridiculous. Take the latest Bliss nightmare, my less than happy experience with NatureGirl, and countless other unfortunate events and...why in the world buy expensive hair on the internet from an unknown source? With no sample? That's why I'm going to go physically down there and ask them to show me the goods.

Syren, Im glad that you can actually go and see the hair before you buy it, but for me and Im sure alot of others, the internet is the only place we can buy decent quality hair. I have one beauty supply store 35 miles away and carries NO human hair. Then there are 5 or 6 in another city about 50 miles from me, that only carry low quality typical bss hair.....

Sherrie, I'm in the same exact boat! I can only go see this place just cuz it happens to be close! I live close to HisnHers and Hairpiece too and believe me, that's absolutely no guarantee of anything either. I've hand picked hair from both those places and sometimes it's good, sometimes not. But I do think that these unknown or less well known internet sites should sell small amounts of hair as samples, not just expect a person to shell out $200 sight unseen. That's what I meant.

Syren, that's another great point: Sometimes the hair looks and feels great when you get it, and after a few washes, it sucks. It's just such a crapshoot with human hair.
I'm still trying to figure out this synth and will continue to experiment--trial and error--but I just can't fathom going back to human now, for all the reasons everyone mentioned (along a few others, too). I just feel so much better not spending hundreds of dollars per weft. :)

Holly,
Thank you for going and checking out the place for me when the rain lets up. I am the type that will pay good money for hair that does not tangle because - I HATE THAT!!!! but anyway, why is it so hard to find? Even Bliss said their hair is practically tangle free - BLAH!!! PHEW!!! SPAT!!!

Rae,
Do you think it cost more because it is on the weft? Still crazy prices though. Anyone want to call Paris Hilton for me and find out where she gets her hair? I heard that her phone list was posted on the internet because somebody hacked it.

I know what ya mean Syren, even sampling the hair isnt always a good indicator. Until you actually purchase it and put a headfull of it in you really dont know the quality. I really hope this synthetic works out in the long run!
By the way my daughters name is Holly too!

I received a reply today to my inquiry about samples. They do not have samples (www.russianhair.com). Shocker. Kimbearly, I think Thursday I can go by there and check them out. Will report back.

Hmmm...something's fishy.
I just called this place - Russian European Hair - and for the 2nd day in a row, there is no answer. Not even an answering machine. It's 12:30 pm - someone or something should answer, wouldn't you think? I want to go to this place and check out the hair, but not having any luck. I'll keep trying, but if they don't answer their phone, I'd take that as a bad sign. What would happen if you purchased their very expensive hair, received a knotted horse tail instead, called to see what the mix up was and got no answer... Not good.
Kimbearly, I'm trying.

I wonder if it's a storefront at all. Perhaps it's just a person who imports and sells the hair out of their apartment? (I think this one was in Astoria, right? I don't know the area too well, but if it was an acutal store, you'd think someone would answer the phone...). :)

I left about 5 emails and called twice and I too got nothing so I gave up on them and would not order from them just because of this. I pretty much have had it with human hair and the off the top prices they want. Can't wait to get my color ring from Sara at Plastikhaar so I can pick my color .
Bliss hair review: Right now I guess I have had Bliss hair for maybe two months and it is getting dryer. I wash and condition my weft once a week and let it air dry. I have noticed that the ends (which I trimmed 3-4 inches off at first) are splitting like mad and are getting frizzy. The hair still looks nice on my head but I have to comb it alot during the day to keep it this way. Still, IMO it is waaaaay to much to pay for hair such as this.

Jenny, this prefix (562) is Downey, CA which is 10 minutes from where I work. I think the same thing, that it's someone running a business out of his or her house. If they haven't answered Kimbearly after numerous attempts, forget it. Bad sign.

Bad sign indeed!
Kimberly, Instead of the raw, unprocessed human hair vendors, have you tried some of the higher-quality human that's processed but still cuticle, like His and Her Cuticle hair? It's pricey, but it's wonderful quality, imo, and would last a long time.
Don't get me wrong--I think you should definitely try out the synth, but if you decide to try another human brand--especially for clips--I'd recommend H&H Cuticle.
