This technique of yours is brilliant! I think it should be added to the 101 Magnet! I LOVE it... less mess, less time, less waste!
Then, it dawned on me... I bet I could adapt this approach only using the keratin glue and hot pot I just got from Kristin(her shipping is phenom!)
So... I tried it. And as sure as s**t's brown...It worked!!!!
With that said... there was a rhyme to my reason. Using wooden stick(I have medium wax sticks from Sally's, 100/$7) apply glue on the weft in an upward motion, use an even consistency(obviously) Make sure to hold the ends of the hair taught. Flip and repeat.
CAREFULLY cut the weft. I cut into the weft going down towards the ends. You will need to reheat and form the bonds. I used my docs wand... or whatever your tool of choice is.
I used this method for both nail and stick!
Obviously... If you are applying shrinkies... you would not want to use this technique!
I'm going to keep working... I'll post pics tomorrow!

It's brilliant! Really brilliant. And Gina...if you wouldn't mind posting some pix of your keratin-on-the-weft experiment, that would be great. Why don't you think pretips made that way would work with shrinkies...because of the glue?

Syren... Yeah the keratin heats up really fast. Way before the shrinkie would form. Maybe it would fly if you added nail glue. I'll try and report back!

Hey! That is so cool Gina! I'm always thinking of ways I can do something in less the time, this thought theory does NOT work for baking though! No short cuts there.
Have you done a whole head of shrinkies yet Gina?

Syren... I've been experimenting with the nail glue/keratin issue. I wouldn't advise it. You either have to apply so much nail glue- that your tip is ROCK HARD(which is good in some areas but I don't think it applies here) Otherwise you run the risk of fusing the glue to the natural hair during take down. I noticed my shrinky was an amber color...same as my keratin. I'll play around to see if olive oil will work it out(wishful thinking I'm sure) or if I have to resort to acetone(which would defeat the purpose of a less damaging tecnique) I'll keep playing! Pics soon to come...I promess! Gina
Ps...Bridget check your BM
