Sure, but you have to be careful to match the hair texture correctly- you can't put silky extension hair on a curly/kinky head and expect it to match. If you want to use a texture different from your own, you'll need to do open-ended braids (I think black salons call them "invisible braids" when they're really small), or a full-coverage weave.
