| Anyone who received a sample of this hair please check your hair. I went to wash mine today and noticed ALOT of little white balls in all 3 samples - more on the straight and curly ones. I am FREAKING out now. What do I do??? Please let these things be dead because that LAST thing I need is lice. I wrapped my hair in a bag and threw it in the trash. Do I need to do anything else? |

OOOOO! ICK! That explains the mothball smell! Poor Kimbearly. How yucky. I didn't notice white balls when I washed the hair, and I even checked the weft really closely like someone suggested. What gives? I don't think you have to do any more other than throw it away unless you had it on your head, which you didn't. |

Kim, you should be fine by throwing it away. If you used any brushes on it or anything, toss those, too. If you had it on any tables or countertops, give it a good scrub with Clorox or Lysol, and you'll have all bases covered. That is definitely an ewwww. Makes me want to stick with synth. ------------- |

Let's not forget that we're talking about India here, a country with one of the largest poor populations on earth, and that is saying something. Lice in one's hair is about the least of their problems, and their standards are just WAY different than ours. You should hear the nauseating stories my stepmother has told me about opening shipping containers her company imported from India (machinery parts)- they'd go to the port dressed in their grubbiest clothes with masks, open the container on the dock and clouds of flies would fly out. She was the company controller and had to physically and personally check everything in the container against documents - she said it was really gross. So lice doesn't surprise me, although I am thoroughly grossed out. |

Oh, no! Beautiful hair indeed.... Well, at least it's on your table, and not on your head! I would imagine if they're just collecting this hair in bulk and not treating it in any way, lice is almost an inevitability. I have talked about buying unprocessed Indian hair and what
are the issues that go along with it. I treat my unprocessed Indian hair when I get it . You have to do the work yourself when you source the hair direct from India like I do. Indian women are known for giving up their hair to the Indian Temple, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. They give up their prized possession, their “Virgin” hair as devotion to GOD for a blessing they have received in their life. The sad thing is many of these women have no idea their hair is being sold to hair traders the minute it is cut off into ponytails. Then exported to many other countries worldwide. If this is a sample of the hair then you know that’s what you are going to get with a regular order. You are either going to get untreated Indian hair or treated Indian hair. They will not send out an untreated sample then sell a treated ponytail. When they send out the sample they know a customer is judging if they will purchase from you by that sample. If you agree to the sample then that’s what you are going to get most probably. Maybe a phone call to let her know what you have found and hopefully she will address your concerns.

SAS, I'm just curious--what's your opinion as to when raw Indian hair makes sense and when it doesn't? For example, I'm doubting it makes much sense if you have light-colored hair or want stick-straight or very curly hair, because the amount of processing you'd have to do would sort of negate the advantage of the rawness. Maybe for people who want dark, wavy hair, it makes more sense? At what point does it start or stop being cost-effective? I've never ordered this stuff and don't intend to, but I'm just curious as to your opinion. You always hear that raw, unprocessed, virgin, etc., is the best, but I imagine it really depends on the client, no? I want to add this question too.... We have a community of southeast asians in town, all with beautiful lustrous black hair.....all of whom start to get grey hairs when they are about 17. So I'm thinking, the grey hairs might be a genetic thing about people from that region, rather than meaning the hair came off someones old grannie. Any thoughts SaveAStray.....? ------------- |

Okay Jenny, here is my take on Indian hair~ You are right with
all valid points, which I have asked myself the same questions!! The main reason I buy unprocessed Indian hair is because I love the quality next to what I usually find in the stores. Russian being my No.1 choice of course!! If you have naturally dark hair, then you are going to get the best wear out of Indian hair. If you need lighter colors…..get it professionally dyed as these products tend to be better than store bought coloring products. Your hair will still last a fairly decent amount of time when dyed but not as long as virgin hair will of course. This hair colored will still surpass the quality your getting stuffed down your throats from some of these companies. Scotchyroo~ just saw you post…..yes, this hair is from young and old women. |

Oh Yes, Jenny...........the price differences from company to company.....that's because the high end prices like Bliss and Nature Girl, make sure their hair is treated before it is sold to you. That's why it would be rare to find anything like that in the haiir. It is still possible but rare!! Places like Indianhairs.com obviously by the prices send out untreated so you are going to get the work to do yourself. I can't say this is bad hair it just needs to be treated!! I am in total shock of the Indian hair price differences because at the end of the day it's basically coming from the same place. You are getting charged for the labor work!!

Great info SA-Stray! And you are 100% correct about the indianhairs.com hair requiring a LOT of work before u can use the hair on your head. I was too lazy (smile) and gave my bundles away to someone else to fuss with. And I like your name.. I am all for saving the strays! Right back at ya Koffee Brown!! This icon pic is my newest addition, she has leukemia and her head is permanently like this. She was taken away from a family that had neglected her and I guess this is where her head injury came from. I can't imagine my life without my animals all rescues. >^..^< Koffee have you tried out any other Indian hair companies and what did you think about the quality?

I have the NB samples and I really love the 3b curl,.....it almost looks like it has been curly permed....the curl just looks too perfect to me. I have curly permed the Straight Indian hair and the curl comes out just like the NB curl. It's a lot cheaper too!! Afropuffs, a member wears NB and she loves it!! I wonder how her hair is holding up.........? Where you at Afropuffs???? Do you like curly or straight hair and what lengths you like? ------------- |

I have curly permed straight hair before too and I love the curls. But the perming is a little bit of work [for me] to get those beautiful NGirl ringlets that I like. But , I agree, perming is a cheaper alternative. ------------- K-B |

Cool. I have ordered /worn NG 2b, 2c , 3b and 3c. Bliss deep curly, coarse wavy and kinky curly. I've never tried/sampled/worn straight from either company. My fav was the NGirl wavy 2c which is what i'm wearing now. edit: oh, lengths i wear is 14-18 inch . I order wefts in those lengths and just layer them for a halle berry ("Their Eyes Were Watching God") curly look. ------------- K-B |

Hey SAS, Yup I still have my NG in and I'm LOVE it. It's starting to thin though, I don't know If i'll be able to get another wear out of it but I may. I'm torn over the price though. I want to order again but it's soooo darn expensive. I'm thinking about doing the Indianhairs and perming again, only last time my curls came out more like waves and I'm inlove with the curls. I think maybe because I used a cheap curly perm(Toni silkwave from walmart) But Sally's wouldn't sell me the good stuff, I may be able to go to an asian BSS and see if they'll sell it to me. I also like how thin the weft is with NG. But I plan on wearing this for 20 more days and then doing something else. Don't know what yet but something else. I still have the Boyhme so maybe I'll go straight. ------------- |

I would try perming the straight hair with a smaller rod this time and heck I will send you a Quantum if you want....No problem!! Bmail me your address girl..... Yeah, that NG weft is the smallest I've ever seen!!OMG!! There's no way you can cut that hand-tied weft!! I cut hand-tied wefts all the time and re-tie and glue them but not NG.....tried that too and ......Haha!!  ------------- |

Some DIY girls want to perm their Indian hair with Quantum but find it hard to get without a license. You can't beat $1.79.....!!
