I went for a massage recently and the therapist asked me if I wanted a hot rock massage. It sounded interesting. Then she asked me if I wanted her to soak the stones in an aromatherapy bath first? I did not understand that at all. Any ideas what she meant? I didn't want to sound dumb so I said, no thanks. The rocks were amazing but I am not sure about the aromatherapy aspect.

Thanks.

That is a little confusing, I am a licensed massage therapist, certified in
hot stone massage, and even I am confused!

I would say that they soak them in and so they absorb the essential oils.
The only problem with that is they stones aren't (or shouldn't be) very
absorant!

Anyways, I am thinking maybe she worded it weird, what I would do is to
either put some aromatherapy in the pot (it's usually some large pot that
you fill with water and the stones and let them heat up) or, a better
option, is to add some to the oil or to the stones themselves. (You aren't
ment to burn them, because some will become unstable and take
different forms)

Just ask her, I am sure she wouldn't mind explaining. It may be the
adding it to the water in the pot, but ask her, might be something that
neither of us know about!! Let me know!
