I was told by one of her agents that her hair was in horrible shape due to major abuse from photo shoots and the shows she was doing. Her ends were all split and the hair was in terrible shape and looked like straw. Sally (aka Meg Ryan`s stylist) cut Kristy`s hair the first time from long to short. Then Kristy had it reshaped shortly after by a stylist in LA and has kept it short since then. I agree. I think she looked so much better with long hair. In the article accompanying the photo shoot, Kirsty explained that her long hair had been a bond between her and her now-deceased mother. She made it sound like she would not have cut her hair if her mother was still alive. The hairstylist Karen mentions was on hand for the photo shoot and said that she encouraged Kirsty (and other clients of hers) to do the first major cutting themselves. That`s at least one reason for the photos of Kirsty doing the cutting (plus it made for a dramatic photo for Vogue). Now for the aftermath, and here I`ll admit my pro-long hair bias up front.... Vogue said that the haircut would propel Kirsty to great stardom and that her long hair was holding her back, or something to that effect. At the time I read that, I remember thinking it was b.s. And, since that time, it seems that Kirsty has been on far fewer magazine covers and getting much less attention. Hey Mr. R, Thanks for the additional info on Kristy. It will be interesting to see if Vogue was right about her short cut. I agree with you and think she stood out more with her long locks, when they were in great shape. She does seem to be less visible ever since.
