Looks much better on her. I hated the long bland hair. Now is she would only do something about the color. The platinum thing has been done to death on her. She needs some variety even if it were just a more natural blonde. |

Perhaps her hairstyle and color has to do with her role as Jean Harlow in the New Martin Scocese film about Jean Harlow. Why do the members of this community continually criticise actresses who vary their hair for their film roles, and entertainment artists for expressing themselves through their hair. That apparantly is what hair is all about. If you are very disturbed by a favorite singer or actress varying their looks, professionally or otherwise it says something about you not them. While I'm ranting on: I see nobody on this board who is sensitive to the fact that hair qualities change with age (often noticible by the middle twenties). When various characteristics (texture, shine, etc,) change it is often intellegent to not try to force the issue by remaining stubbornly loyal to a juvinile trademark hairstyle. I find it humorous to see people criticizing the buzzcut that Matt Lauer adopted last year. They claim to prefer his old style. But his old style was a combination of hair products and television lighting. He's lost quite a bit of hair and his new style is an intellegent (and courageous) nod to reality. The alternative to this leads to Donald Trump, a past master of the school of a never varying hairstyle. |

You're right the celebrity hair talk forum is no place to express my opinion on celebrity hair. I'm a big time hater.... Gwen's hair color is not for a role in a movie because its the same color its been for several years. She didn't change it. Its change in texture is a result of massive doses of peroxide, blame it on age, whatever you want but I haven't like it. ------------- |

This is "Celebrity Hair Talk." First, there's "Celebrity." We talk about people in the public eye, people who make their living by being on film or TV. Part of being a celebrity is for people to talk about you. There is no such thing as bad publicity. As long as they talk about you, it's all good. As someone whose work has been in the public eye, I accept the good with the bad. If I didn't want it, I wouldn't have put my work out there. It's a heck of a lot better to have my work out there then not. Our talking about Gwen means we're interested. That's what she wants. Musicians we aren't talking about don't sell as much. Second, there's "Hair." This is a place to discuss hair and our opinions of it. We know Gwen thinks she looks great or maybe she can't pull off what she could ten years ago. That's her business, not ours. Then there's "Talk." It's about our opinions. Here, we're more important than Gwen. Gwen doesn't read this board. We know she doesn't care what we think and she shouldn't. If Josie Davis wants to go longer, than shorter, she should. If Tiffani Thiessen wants to go blond or Julia Stiles wants to go brunette, they should. If Shania Twain wants to keep the same style for years, she should. If they want to change or don't want it, that's up to them. Part of being a celebrity means we comment on it. If that means I buy a ticket to her concert or buy the album, then it's good for Gwen. ------------- |

I think the platinum look suits Gwen 'cause of her music and style. She might not change it much over the years but if it works well, why change it? Most people will talk about things that they don't have or don't like. But Gwen doesn't concern herself of those discussions anyway. As long as she stays famous, she can do whatever she wants. I have always thought Gwen to be absolutely stunning. her look is perfect for her and she tops it off always with a healthy dose of self assurance that just emanates from her and makes her even more gorgeous. I was a little curious about the mullet style she was wearing awhile back, but still, she carried even that one off with confidence. The style she is wearing in the pics with Heidi is a familiar one. If anything, I think Gwenny may be slightly more platinum (doesn't seem to be any yellow left in there at all), which would be consistent with her Jean Harlow role. I'm just glad she still has her eyebrows.  JF ------------- 3 pm is simultaneously too late and too early to start anything. |

She has been looking more like Marilyn than Jean Harlow, at least to me. She is always fabulous but I wonder how that look will age. One can only get away with the really fake, wild stuff for so long and then it just looks ridiculous. I doubt it'll matter when she gets old,her hair will probably turn white,if not ,then gray,which would be easier to bleach instead of her natural haircolour. I think she looks good,but an auburn wouldn't be bad on her,either. ------------- |
