My Oscar night top 10, based on photos from the red carpet…

1. Holly Hunter (My future bride's hair was the best of show. Oh, how I wish she would have won an Oscar instead of Renee “Is she smiling or isn’t she” Zellweger.) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r1047140688.jpg&e=1&ncid=707 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r1047140688.jpg&e=1&ncid=707

2. Angelina Jolie (What a beauty!) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/482/kdk30703010355&e=16&ncid=707 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/482/kdk30703010355&e=16&ncid=707

3. Jennifer Garner (I can’t decide if she’s cute or sexy.) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/482/kdk25703010249 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/482/kdk25703010249

4. Catherine Zeta Jones (I really like her better without bangs) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/482/kdk25703010249 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/482/kdk25703010249

5. Sofia Coppola (She’s ranked this high because she had a good hair night. She usually doesn’t even try.) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r654334589.jpg - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r654334589.jpg

6. Julia Roberts (I’m sure it’s more for the smile than for the blonde hair, but the hair didn’t look all bad either.) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/482/kdk24503010231 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/482/kdk24503010231
(She gets bonus points, because in all honesty, I really liked the hair of the “unidentified woman” in the photo even better.)

7. Robin Wright Penn (It’s not as great as it used to be in “Princess Bride,” but it’s getting there) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/482/kdk31303010404&e=7&ncid=707 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/482/kdk31303010404&e=7&ncid=707

8. Uma Thurman (Simply ravishing! She and Diane Lane had similar hairstyles, but Uma really pulled it off a lot better.) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r1529368069.jpg - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r1529368069.jpg

9. Julianne Moore (Ahh, yes…) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/480/kdk18703010134 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040301/480/kdk18703010134

10 (tie). Maryann Deleo (She caught my eye. She looked nice.) http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r2513204588.jpg&e=2&ncid=707 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/ids_photos_en/r2513204588.jpg&e=2&ncid=707

10 (tie). Susan Sarandon (I love the long bangs. I think she looked very young, but wonder if it was her hair and, if so, had she had a recent facelift or extra makeup. (See separate thread.)
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/482/kdk28403010321&e=10&ncid=707 - http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/040301/482/kdk28403010321&e=10&ncid=707

Noteworthy...?
I’m sure a bunch of you think Charlize Theron belongs on the list. To me, she had a one-night-only hairstyle. I want to see what she looks like the next day.
Speaking of that, I've started a separate thread to discuss Liv Tyler's hairstyle. What was up with that?
Diane Keaton’s hat ruined a good hairstyle.
I’ve always thought that Annie Lenox was a great candidate for long hair.
Is Annette OToole really married to that tool Lenny of “Lenny and Squiggy?”
Who am I forgetting?

Goodness, I just saw Naomi Watts on the show. She definitely belongs on the Top 10 list. So does Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Boy...those picks weren't very biased. What is it they all have in common? I can't figure out what all those women have in common. Can someone help please? LOL

All in fun!

Blee. . . I'm looking through Oscar pics, and so far I don't see much of good hair, and most of the dresses are fairly boring, too. Ah well. Let's see as we go along. . . Like Sally Kirkland's dress, with all the embroidery or whatever that is. . . and Annette O'Toole's hair. . . as much as I love Jamie Lee's hair in its natural state, she should've dyed it just long enough to go to the awards. . . Julia Roberts should've touched up her roots before going :-P but the style is pretty . . . Oprah's dress is very nice. . . love love love that Annie Lennox, dress and everything. . . Sofia Coppola good all around. . . kinda like Nicole Kidman's dress, but she still looks like a drag queen :-P . . . love Diane Keaton except for the hat. . .
Guess that's enough. . . tired of looking at all those pics. If something else good is pointed out, I'll comment then.

Annie Lennox did she have long hair? Or just that same short cut she always have?

For the most part, I agree with all Gord's picks, except, I think blond is a big mistake for Julia Roberts.
Also, sad to see Ms. Theron lopped off her hair. The recent pics of her doing press for Monster, where she had her hair blown out pin straight, were the best shots of her I'd ever seen. I wasn't a huge fan of her hair curly, but long and sleek, I found striking with her features.
I also thought that Jamie Lee Curtis looked like a warden from a women's prison movie!

I (per usual) agree with most of Gord's sentiments. However, I have to add Sandra Bullock to the "Best Hair" list. She looked great last night! Loved the waves, loved the color (not crazy about the bottom half of her dress, but the top half was pretty). Also agree that Naomi Watts looked gorgeous. A simple, elegant updo. Perfection! I liked Julia Roberts' style, but think that a little darker blonde would suit her better (a more honey color). Yes...she should have had her roots done before the show! Also, Jennifer Garner...Now, I usually think that she's sort of odd looking, but I thought that she looked great last night. I actually liked her bangs quite a lot with the (shocking!) ponytail.

Annie Lennox just doesn't look great to me (does she ever change?). I saw a post-Oscar interview this morning with Jimmy Kimmel and he made the comment that she looked like Eminem at last year's Oscars...he was right...she kind of did!

Random thoughts on the Oscars...

- Best Hair was Catherine Zeta Jones. And I don't care if you DO think I'm biased toward brunettes. Which I am. But, in this case, I'm right anyway.

- Did Charlize Theron's eyebrows burn off in the tanning bed? I know she had some before last night...

- Holly Hunter seemed to be doing a pretty good Jennifer Aniston impersonation.

- Loved Sandra Bullock's hairstyle. Color is still unflattering as heck.

- Speaking of color, someone tell Julia Roberts she shouldn't be a blonde.

- Ditto for Nicole Kidman. Washes her out. Needs to be darker or, at the very least, strawberry blonde.

- Still lovin' Jennifer Garner's bangs.

- Angelina Jolie. Man, ever since she reappeared on a regular basis after "Tomb Raider" this summer, she's practically glowed at every event she has shown up at. Whatever mind-control Billy Bob had her under that was causing the creepy look has finally worn off completely.

- Not exactly sure WHAT you'd call Liv Tyler's half-bob side-swept semi-updo. Except maybe that.

- Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller cracked me up before the show and during. Methinks Owen's last line to Maria Menunos was unscripted ("So, are those real?").

As long as Annie Lennox has been famous, she's had short hairstyles. It's been various colors, though.

Flea, old buddy, I hope my gal Holly Hunter doesn't go too far with the Jennifer Aniston look to which you refer. I can't stand Jen's longish, sideswept bangs.

On a totally unrelated hair note, please take a minute to read the photo caption under this pic of Dennis Hopper and his wife. The writer calls her his "current " wife. Was he with former wives in another photo? Is he planning to dump the current wife soon and take on a new one? I cracked up when I read that one. Of course, I'm often easily amused.

We'll agree to disagree on Jen's bangs.

I saw that too and it thought it was funny. Like she has an expiration date.

I think Mr Hopper has a long list of ex wives, so many that I think its safe to assume his "current" wife will not be current long.

I've had a thing for Annie Lennox going all the way back to childhood. I think it's good that she rarely disappoints me, hair-wise, the way a lot of celebs do. (It's a big problem whenever I get a crush on a cute short-haired girl, then next time I see her it's long. . . very disappointing, and often makes the crush go away, or at least lessen. . .)
How could Jamie Lee Curtis look like a prison warden when she was wearing such a nice bright-blue, sexy kind of dress? I thought it was a lovely dress, and she was lovely in it. The only problem was, wearing such a bright dress with her grey hair washes her out. The grey hair is lovely on her, and would've looked great with a less flashy dress, but if she's going to wear so bright a blue I'd rather see her dye her hair brown again for it.

Catherine Zeta Jones is always beautiful. And I have to agree with jerkyFlea about Julia Roberts: that blonde hair needs to go and never come back. Who lied and told her she looks good that way?

I'd heard she went blonde for work, so I was just gonna excuse it.
