We all know that we use user names and not our real names (usually). Has anyone ever wondered if there are celebrities that actually post here under user names so we'd never really know who they were? It's possible and sort of fun to think who would actually do it.

Interesting thought -though I am not one. Since people of all types post here (jobs, backgrounds...) I don't see why there couldn't be some celebrities in the mix. Wouldn't it be neat if a celebrity had a makeover and would visit the site to see the reaction of the public.

That would be cool. I visit www.avsforum.com (a high definition tv message board). There are some pretty big named people posting on that board. One being Mark Cuban (owner of the NBA Dallas Maverics).

That would be interesting! I can imagine a celebrity signing up with a user name and creating a thread about him/herself wondering what people thought of their hair, but not admitting they were that person. And, then seeing what people really think.

If there were, they would probably be minor celebrities, since major celebs don't have a lot of free time to do things like browse message boards (or answer their own fanmail-- they usually have it handled by their agencies :-P ). So the little threads on minor celebs no-one's heard of, you might suspect as being started by the minor celebds themselves, but I doubt Alyssa Milano or Sharon Stone are here asking our opinions on their hair.

You're probably right, but that fact just might make them anonymous enough to do it. Nobody would ever expect! But, this is just a fun thread.

So, it's possible then either way. Well, you all see my avatar, so you know that I'm not a celebrity, but I'm still wondering about miss brenda!

Actually, whether they post here or not I can't say for sure, but I know for a fact that several celebrities do read the celebrity board to see what is said about them. The HairBoutique.com Marketplace has many celebrities from LA and New York that have accounts and buy products from us and I know that they do visit the site. Some celebs have their assistants or family call but in some cases the celebrities themselves have called on the HairBoutique.com order line.
In one "now famous HairBoutique.com legend" a well known rock diva's manager called and ordered a bunch of hair accessories for her to be "next dayed" out. Then a few days later the diva herself called to thank us. One of the HairBoutique.com people that answered the phone just about had a coronary.
I have also heard from the hairdressers of some of the celebrities that the celebrities do surf HairTalk and do read the boards. Whether they post or not, I can't say for sure but I do know that they do come here. Also, many editors and reporters stop by and I know for a fact that a story that was reported on Page Six was related to HairTalk's Celebrity board.
Best wishes, Karen

This place must be more important and influential than I thought, then. *waves to any celebs that might be reading this* But if any celebs are posting, they'll never confess their real identities; they'd be mobbed by fans with questions and comments, and they'd never get to eavesdrop on an honest discussion of their style choices again. So if there are any here, we'll never know. Most likely they only lurk, anyway, though.

Hi Kuroneko & Kathy & all,
I think there are a lot of factors at play here at HB.com w/regard to celebrities. Since there are often articles on the HB.com site about various celebs & what is happening with their hair, I have heard from the celeb's hairdressers that either the celeb or their agents will check out what is being said.
Also, since so many celeb hairdressers are mentioned here (Ken Paves, Robert Hallowell, Rita Hazan, Laurent D, Peter Lamas, John Sahag etc), the hairdressers also stop by to check themselves out.
And of course HB.com has been around on the Web since 97 so a lot of people know about the site.
Finally, over the years HB.com has made friends and connections with many editors so we do get a lot of press. Just in the past month HB.com has been mentioned in several different newspapers & magazines & usually within the context of our celebrity focus.
Also, when JerkyFlea was still updating his column in the past, it was popular and read my celebs. I know this for a fact because in one case a LA radio host called and asked me some questions about Jerky. Also, as Jerky knows, there was a Joan Jett/JerkyFlea happening a few years back. :-)
So who knows, one of these days some of you may even get email from a celeb that you have been commenting on. :-)
Best wishes, Karen

Wow thanks for the info Karen. Something to keep in mind when we post. We might be a bit hard when we post about someone's hair. We can still say something about it. But think how you type it.

Either you're lying now or you were lying before when you said you had a pixie. Sandra Bullock has never had a pixie. So which is it?

I didn't know Sandra was a lesbian either.... if you look in the post about Campbell Brown Miss Brenda states that she looks like her significant other.

Yep...tina m and kathy...she's hiding under another name cuz she got kicked out of her awhile back...the annoying use of the smiley faces tipped me off months ago.
My two cents.

Wasn't talkin about you...was talkin about about tina m. errr.....i mean miss brenda.
BTW, i think you're pretty attractive, and very cute...although i don't think you should go long...you're face seems more oval...i think you should go shorter....and that's not just the short hair fan in me speaking out....another regular poster here agrees with me....how about it "mr. x" care to back me up?
My two cents.

Well, your SO has a very pretty name! lol. My hubby's name is Jim, which is funny because his dad's name is Jim and his sister's name is Cathy, so when we get together for family functions, it can get confusing!

I'm actually not Sandra. I'm actually Portia de Rossi.
And yes, I'm a lesbian. So what. Only a homophobe would have a problem with that. Get with it, we are in 2004, lesbians are part of the diversity of the modern world.
My use of smiley's are not annoying, they are creative . They are simply an expression. At it's not like I'm the only one that uses them.
But then again, some people are easily annoyed. Maybe that's because they are annoyed with themselves and the lives they are leading. That could be it.

Ya sure what ever you say tina m or miss brenda and I'm Jessica Alba so please just tell us the truth about you being tina m because I know 100% that you are the trouble maker tina m and dont start telling me about your personal life especially about you being a lesbian because I dont give a rats ass who you are or what you are tina

Taking a simple statement like "I didn't know Sandra was a lesbian either" and turning it around and saing that I'm a homophobic for saying it.... YEP... I agree... definately Tina! No one else I've ever read picks fights so easily.

Yes Karen banned me. I couldn't even write on this website. But then one day, just for the heck of it, I tried this website again, and I could write on it again. So obviously she lifted the ban on me. I have been trying really, really, hard to be sweet and loving and nice to everyone on these boards. If you knew me you would know that I'm a very affectionate and loving person. I don't have much of a formal education, because of the way I was raised I dropped out of high school and started streetwalking when I was 16. I don't have any real skills other than my people skills and my love and affection and my street smarts. Kathy supports me and my daughters, I owe her alot. I try and keep the house clean for her, cook for her, and love her as much as I can. I give my daughters as much love as I can. And when I write to people on websites(and I write on several websites other than this one), I try and be fun, and entertaining, and intelligent, and loving to people.
This is the only website I ever got kicked off of. On the other websites I get along fine with people, and they accept me the way I am, even with the emotions that I have, and I know I am sometimes emotional. But on this website I got blamed for the argument that occured between several people. I was the only one that got blamed and banned and it was several people's fault, not just me. I really appreciate and love Karen, she does a great job with this website and I just know she is a loving person, but she was VERY UNFAIR to me. It hurt. I know that the reason Uzma quit writing here, and Uzma was one of the best people here, was because Karen banned me, and Uzma thought that was very unfair.
If Karen bans me again, I won't come back this time. But she let me write on the computer again so I guess she is giving me another chance.
Peace and love to all of you.
Love, Tina

OK, now we are getting WAAAYYYYYYY off topic, but I feel the need to put in my 2 cents worth!
I stopped taking things said to me on internet boards personally back in 1998. The thing about the internet is that it is so completely uncensored, people type things they would never say, or mean.
After all, the internet is supposed to be FUN!

The problem is- Even though it's not the end of the world if someone says something offensive to you over the internet (you'll get over it), there are some people who base their entire lives on their net lives because they're the only social situation some people have. I've seen people commit suicide over some of the things that have gone wrong over the internet, two of whom I spoke with quite frequently.
My point is, just because the internet is pretty anonymous, it should be treated like any other social situation, because that's exactly what it is. If someone calls me fat or ugly or stupid, I can deal with it, because I've dealt with it all my life. However, everyone has different tolerance levels, and even if we don't know a person too well or really at all, we should always remain respectful of them :)
Just my two cents, and waaaaayyyy OT, so I'll shut up now. :)
Stef
