| I think Gillian Anderson's hair was reddish on the X-Files, not brunette. Anyhow, I totally agree with you, blonde is always being touted as the ideal hair color and everyone (it seems) thinks that anyone who doesn't have blonde hair wants it. Well, maybe I've had my fleeting wish to have Joss Stone's or Jessica Simpson's respective hair colors, but I personally have always loved my darker hair. I think it's sort of insulting the way blondes are made out to be so much better. Some may get annoyed and say that isn't the case, or that this has been going on since early Hollywood, but I really think there's this overwhelming trend to be blonde and that blonde is so striking a color. Why did Brittany Murphy, who was incredibly funny as the redhead in clueless, or so heartbreakeningly broken as the raven haired, chicken obsessed girl in Girl Interrupted, not make a name for herself until she took the plunge and went blonde? Everyone raved about it, but I always thought she pulled off the dark so well that it was a shame to see her with the bleached blonde look. Sarah Michelle Gellar said once (in an article or on tv, can't remember) that she thought her dark brown hair was boring, so she lightened it for Buffy and has remained blonde ever since (with a few brief stints as a redhead and a brunette). I just think it seems like an actress finally "makes it" when she dyes her hair blonde. Blonde can be a great color, but so can all of the brunette shades and I think that it's annoying that no one ever mentions them. Brunettes may be more common, but every brunette is different, unlike some blonde dye jobs which look painfully similar (dyed and fried). I think Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz, and the rest of the other brunette actresses (whether they're light brown or dark) are gorgeous, and a big part of that has to do with having beautiful, shiny, glossy brunette hair. |

For what it's worth, I'm one guy who has always found brunettes more appealing than blondes. Maybe it's that aura of mystery and depth they cultivate, but I naturally gravitate toward them. Offhand I can think of a few examples: how about Sofia Milos, Rena Sofer, Teri Hatcher, Vanessa Marcil, Ashley Judd, and Kristin Davis? All beautiful women, IMHO. Of course, for some of us, the texture matters even more than the color. Straight brunette hair is alluring; curly brunette hair is heart-stopping. :-) |

| First off Britney Spears hair is a natural light brown, her blonde comes from a bottle, as does her sisters. Jessica Simpsons hair is also a light brown to dark blonde the color she sports now is also from a bottle. Hilary and Haylie Duff also bleach there hair, its actully a light brown. Here is my list of hot dark haired ladies. Vanessa Lengies, Mandy Moore, Alyssa Milano, Liv Tyler, Alexis Bledel, Kate Winslet, Jessica Biel, Natalie Portman, and My # one Hottie is Jennifer Love Hewitt - she is so sexy and looks good in any color imo, and I think burnetts are hottier then blondes. |
