my sister in law is a stylist. While visiting her, in hot and humid, weather she offered to give me a perm. I prided myself on growing my naturally fine blonde hair past shoulder length. she said the perm would give me volume. I just wanted a wave. In the middle of the perm she told me she gave me the harshest perm because my hair is hard to perm. then when she was trimming the ends, she turned my chair so I couldn`t see and layered my hair. She wanted me to flip my hair down and back up so while my head was facing my lap she started poking around and when i flipped she was coloring my hair!! What had happened was she burnt my hair and was trying to coverit up with the color. My hair feels like straw and I don`t know what to do with it other than shaving my head. Will the temp color ever grow out? what can I do to condition it? HELP!

How does color cover up burnt perm? I am not an expert but going on line and purchasing some Aubrey organics hair conditoner (many to choose from) but I would recommend GPB I think that is the correct initial sequence. I do know that heat and humudity always quicken any chemical process. Good luck

WOW! So many things happening on one head. Normally, a deep conditioner with heat helps dry hair, but with the chemical processes your hair has endured, a lot of heat is the LAST thing it needs. The temporary color will fade in a few weeks (usually 6 weeks at the most depending on how often you shampoo). A good at-home conditioner is honey and olive oil. Use 1/2 cup of honey and 1/4 cup of olive oil. Warm the mixture (not too hot), dip your fingers into the mixture and coat the hair shaft. Pay particular attention to the ends. Soak a towel in hot water, wring it out, and wrap it around your head for 20 minutes. Thoroughly shampoo (maybe twice) using a good moisturizing shampoo and warm water to be sure to get all of the olive oil out. You can also put a shower cap on your head, warm a towel in the clothes dryer, and wrap it around your head for 30 minutes. Another wonderful natural conditioner is jojoba (usually sold in health food stores). Good luck!!
