hello
just registered here. I need some help witht the orange hair thing. I just got my hair dyed for the first time. My natural hair color is dark-medium brown and i was going for a light brown to dark blonde. So i went to my hair stylist and i told her what i wanted and we looked through the hair swatches and picked one out. But my hair looks nothing like the sample. It turned out a orangy brown. So how do i fix this? Do i need a toner in a purple-blue or green? Or i heard something about a ashy blonde color? So does that mean i need to get it dye an ashy blonde over my orange?Or do i need to start all over and get it bleached first before the color which prevents the orange tones? I would love it if all i need was a toner to put on for 15 min or so that would remove the orange. I am going to go to a salon and have it done not try it myself. But i don`t know if i should go to my regular stylist i have had for 4 years or go somewhere else and ask for a color specialist. Since i am somewhat annoyed that she didn`t prevent this from happening in the first place. I want to prevent damaging my hair so would like the gentler option if any. Please advice. thanks amberw

BLUE!!! Blue gets out the orange tones! Complimentary colors! orange`s complimentary color is BLUE!

Did you tell the lady that`s not the color you wanted.. if she says "do you like this color?" and if the answer is no you could ask her to put onmore dye to get it lighter..

Either way blue toner is the answer, and then when your hair is too yelowy you need purple.
You don`t neen green unless there is red tones in it. For the most part, toners are gentlier than hair color.
