I have naturally stick straight hair. No wave, curl or anything. My Grandmother gave me a home perm 1 week ago. I have had 3 excellent perms from her in the past 7 years, all taking very well and lasting for a long time. This time however, when it came to mixing part A with part B, she got the part B bottle and the neutrilizer bottles mixed up and I sat for 20 mintues with my hair in culers doused in part A and the neutrilizer. We realized the mistake AFTER she rinsed my hair out and went for the neutrilizer to put it on, only to find it empty. When we took it down, it was a little wavey so I waited for 2 days to wash it out anyway, holding out hope it would do SOMETHING. 1 week later my hair is basically back to the way it was before we did the perm except for a slight, partial obnoxious and random kink.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Can I get another perm right away or should I wait? Should I treat my hair with something first?

My best guess is that since you didn't actually mix part A and part B, you didn't actually get a perm, and it's probably safe to do it again now.

Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?

well I'm only a cosmetology student but my advice would be to deep condition your hair and wait 2-3 weeks before trying another chemical service such as a perm or color. Maybe some of the experts here can lend their opinion too.

Go for it...

Done it been there, in the salon, but you only make that mistake ONCE.  Mann, wHat a bummer!  But ...if this is truly what happened...you could RINSE IT WELL..and re perm (with the right solutions) in the same day if you wanted.  Of course you would need to have another perm on hand.

Thanks for the advice. It's been a few weeks and I'm thinking I'll try it again. The thing is, I was not really sure about a perm in the first place as everyone tells me my hair is beautiful and they wish they had hair like mine. They don't realize they only see me and my hair when I've taken lots of time and great pains to make it look nice. I usually roll it in hot rollers. It may be beautiful but it's stick straight, oily and not an ounce of life or body to it. I just had my first baby 4 months ago and I don't have time to mess with it but I don't want to look messy and tired either. Thanks all for your advice!
