My hair is curly, but not tight curls, kind of a combo of loose curls and big waves....anyway, its about shoulder length, maybe a little past and all one length, its also a dark brown, almost like black.....I need a new style, but I want to keep my curls, should I get my hair layered, cause I want to let it grow, and should I get it lightened?? Its kind of like Andie Macdowell's......help!!

Also...instead of getting your hair layered, which puts your curls in danger of being too puffy or forming a triangle, you may want to ask them to "slice" individual sections of curls. Ouidad talks about this technique...which she also does at her salon in NYC and it keeps curly hair from getting triangular or too puffy.
