I`m constantly in the need to do something different with my hair, constantly. For the past year or so, I`ve been so stressed out with my curly hair that I`ve wanted nothing but to chop it all off. Now, instead of shaving it all off [as I`ve threatened to do, but have never had the guts to do], I`ve decided that I`d rather try something a little more... Conservative. Like a Medium-short cut; below the ear, but well above the shoulder.
My hair is naturally curly, and fully of frizz, too. Would it be against my best interest to cut my hair short? I`ve cut my hair in the past [and cried about it] which resulted in fluffyness, I blame this on my lack of good hair products. If cutting my hair short would be an okay thing to do, would anyone have any suggestions on what type of hair products to use? I was thinking of a hair wax [like Fudge], that way I could have more control with styling.
Please, oh please, I need help! Soon.

Tara

I have really thick, but fine textured naturally curly hair. I use (and love) Back to Basics products. I wasn`t paid to say that, either. lol I use get curly shampoo and conditioner. Get shine leave-in conditioner(after getting rid of excess water but not towel-drying...that will just make your hair frizzy) followed by a little bit of get curly gel. I like to let my hair dry naturally when ever possible...then I use Silk Grooming Creme on the ends and to smooth the outer layer. I finish with get shine hairspray. All of these products are very concentrated...so a little bit goes a looong way...and they are defintiely worth the extra money as compared to drugstore products. I also have medium to short hair. The key is to layer it and never EVER use a razor on it...that will make the ends lighter than the rest of the strand, in turn creating more frizz. You`re better off to keep the layers as long as possible...and I would definitely not cut my hair short if it were coarse. My shortest layer is at my cheekbones, the second layer at my jawbone, and the last at my shirt collar...ask the stylist to cut the ends (blunt) so they flip out a little bit. It`s kind of like a shag (like Jenna Elfman when she had short hair) but not quite. I use a small barrelled curling iron around my face and to "curl" the longer layer(s) in the back. (As opposed to having ringlets.) It only takes about 10 min...if even that. I have never had so many compliments on my hair before...well...except for when it was really long. lol I hope this helps at least some. I`m sure you can find a pic of Jena Elfman with short hair on the net...if not I can email one to you. Good luck!!! Just be sure you go to a stylist who knows how to cut curly hair...especially one who understands that it will shrink when it dries.
