I am a girl with blonde curly hair and quite a fat face. I need to get my hair cut really short for a new job I am starting, but I do not want the new style to make my face look even fatter. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which style I should get?

My only suggestion is don't do it. I have fine but very curly hair & it looks awful short. (made the mistake of a short cut in '98 & am still trying to grow it back)
Unless you're joining the military, no employer can legally require you to cut your hair. Don't do something drastic b/c you want a change. Try a new color or something--don't cut off your hair!

What kind of a job is this? I can only think of jobs where you'd be able to get away with wearing it up if hair is, in fact, an issue.
------------- Monica: Isn't there any way that you could look at this as flattering? I mean, she's doing this to be more like you. Rachel: Well, then, couldn't she have just copied my haircut?

The requirement is that it looks smart (and serious) rather than actually being short, which quite frankly it does not at the moment. I also have no time for styling it in the morning.

That's crazy! That is a completely subjective requirement. I mean, who's to say what "smart" looking hair is?
I know this isn't the political section of hair talk, but they are violating your first amendment right of free expression. You could have a healthy lawsuit here. But there is no way I'd cut off my hair or change my style just b/c my employer didn't like it. I'm appalled that they'd even suggest it.

Katie, How short did you go? I have thin curly hair as well and was considering cutting it to my shoulders but I am a little nervous.

I went about chin length. My hair is thick but very fine. The shorter I went the curlier it got, and chin length gave me a small resemblance to Buckwheat. Six years later & I'm still trying to grow it back.
Shoulder length might not be so bad. You just have to remember that long hair weighs down your curls & makes it a little more managable (IMO).
I'm still outraged that an employer would tell an employee how to wear their hair. I really can't get over this!
