Hi, I've just found this site recently so I thought that I might as well join in on some of the discussion here. I have wavy hair, but I blowdry it and straighten it every time I wash it. Over the years I've tried many different styling products and in my own opinion I have found that many of the professional salon brands don't do any better of a job then the over the counter products do. It's a curse to have been bon with wavy or curly hair, it takes so long to dry and style it. A question that I have for others with the same type of hair, do you find that it's easier working with your hair when it's shorter rather then longer? And what are all of your opinions on salon vs. over the counter products? Thank You in advance for any answers! Jeana |

i am currently allowing my hair to grow out from an extremely short cut that was super-easy to care for. I had my hair at waist length at one time but after my marraige, the texture chaged and was even more difficult to maintain. Having my hair really short was so easy for me. Just run some light gel through and it would dry while putting on my makeup. Take a pick to fluff it and i was done. i could never wash my hair in the morning before work when it was long because of the time it took to dry it. Even blowdrying took half an hour or so to make it curly, and it's so damaging. My hair is currently about an inch from my shoulders and i can already tell the difference in how long it takes to fix and especially how much product i have to use. only thing i missed when it was short was being able to wear up in a twist, my hubby loves updos! On products, i totally agree with you that name brand products do not necessarily work better that even brands Wal-Mart carries. i love Tresseme products, they are so moisturizing and provide such great hold for my frizzy hair. The new sleek shampoos and conditioner by L'Oreal has been a lifesaver for me!  ------------- CO wash only since September '04! Dyed red botticelli curls (3b), fine and just past shoulder length |

Curly hair a curse? A gift, maybe. Every time someone compliments me on my hair, it reminds me how lucky I am to have such lovely, thick curly hair. I don't do much with my hair - wash it once a week or so, put plenty of conditioner in and leave it to dry - so it's hardly time consuming. No hairdryer, no straighteners, no other styling tools. I've spent the last two years growing it out from a very short cut, and it's now past my shoulders and growing. I find the best way to deal with curly hair is to be relaxed with it, and not try to force it to be anything it isn't. ------------- |
