I would like someone to please give me suggestions on updos I should wear. I have a thin, oblong/rectangle shaped face. My hair is shoulder length, thick and straight. I am going to be in a wedding soon and I REALLY want to find an updo that looks good with my facial shape. I`ve heard that I need "width for balance" and that "wider and softer hairstyles" work best", but I`m not quite sure what is meant by that.
Please describe the perfect updo or post pictures. Thanks a lot!!! (:

Faith Danielle

Just wanted to say that my subject title is wrong! I dunno what I was thinking! The subject should be "updo for oblong face shape", but I don`t know how to change it. Anyway, hope you can help! Also, I was wondering if my oblong face would look good in a chingnon or a top knot updo? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
(:

Hey, try www.easy-formal-hairstyles.info Maybe you can find something there. There is something about face shapes. Or there is a link to a site on the buttom where you can find several thousands of hairstyles. I am sure it can help you.

Hi Faith,
I know what you mean! Its hard trying to understand something without pictures!! Have you taken a look at the style selector here at the hairboutique? Go to Hairstyle Galleries and scroll down and pick your face shape to search for a hairstyle. I would not necessarily recommend all of them but take a look at #5091 and #4577. That is what is meant by width. Of course these are casual and you need updos. For those, you can go to my website and read the article about FACE SHAPE and follow the link to the PHOTO GALLERY. It will show you some awesome updos for your hair.

I don't know if you would consider this, but the length of your hair now may not be the ideal length. Long straight hair will accentuate your oblong face. To balance your face shape, you might want a cut that will encourage the width without a lot of styling, kind of like the two above or 3796 or 3820 but by FAVORITE IS 6335. Check them out. What do you think?
