I was recently told by a hair stylist that it is possible for twists to `dry rot`. If this is true, what causes this condition? This particular Straw Set `twists` style is simply permed hair, to which setting lotion is applied, with the hair wound around straws to form the twisties. The person pops under the dryer for about 45min to 1hr. Should this style, with regular maintenace be a problem? Has anyone ever heard of the dry rotting of hair? This style is so carefree...

This is not possible the stylist made that up so you would come back to her.

I think it would be better for you to ask that particular stylist what makes hair 'dry rot' and what it looks like, etc. I've never heard of such a thing, but that doesn't mean it's not true.
