Has anyone with a relaxer had any success with creating that wet and wavy or curly look (think Ananda Lewis)? If so, please spill your tips!

yes- i have! When your hair is wet- its easier to add texture to so I just worked with my natural texture by applying Aussies` 3 minute miracle conditioner while hair was still wet after shampooing, then applying mouse. I then applied gel for a smooth even curl and did whatever style came to mind. THe updo`s were the cutest- with little curly tendrils spririling down the front and back. Sometimes I just wore it all down- I swear I killed that style till I just got sick of curly hair all together. It sounds like alot to do but the whole style took about 10 minutes maximum since i didnt have to blow dry.

Thanks!
I have been hearing about mousse for the longest, but I thought that stuff didn`t work on black people`s heads, but I bought some anyway. I am going to give it a try once I take out this style. But, I`ve got a few more questions:
Was the conditioner that you used a leave-in conditioner? Did you scrunch your hair after you applied the mousse? Did you apply the gel to your hair when it was dry? Did you apply the gel to all of your hair evenly, or just to the curls or edges?
I`ve have been wanting this for so long!! I kinda got it with John Frieda Frizz-Ease Relax Ripple effect, but it made my hair look a little dry and frizzy (my mother called me a poodle), and my stylist said that it looked like it was fighting my relaxe, so I shouldn`t use it oftenr.

Actually mousse worked very well on my hair when it was wet. It untangles your hair and brings out waves and texture. I think you should also get a mousse that doesnt contain alchohol because it will really dry your hair out. The Aussie conditoner actually wasnt leave in but I always leave my conditioners in because it keeps my hair soft and managable. But everyone has a different hair type so what works for me may not work for you or likewise. I applied the gel to all of my hair evenly as well as the ends and scrunched it. If you have naturally curly hair- you`re hair should be curling at this point but if it`s really straight from relaxers then you may need to scrunch for a little while with a blow dryer on the cool setting. It`s best to let it air dry because you`ll get a fully look- rather than a "just-got out- the pool" look. Let me know if it works!

Thanks!
I know that I am not the only one that wants this look. My friend gets it easily, but she won`t tell us how, and she claims that she just has "that wavy type of hair" even though she does have a relaxer. Okay, whatever. But her hair smells like jheri curl when she wears it like that, though. Heheheheee.
But the blow drying part is definitely right. When you blow dry it (when I used the Ripple Effect stuff) it just made it poofier. Dry looking and poofy. That takes away from the curls. Even though my hair is relaxed, it does have some curl in it, particularly at the ends, so I`m hoping that it does work for me. In another week or two, I will give this a try (after experimenting with my Revostyler once it arrives).
Okay, one more question: Did you use a soft type of gel (like Jam) or did you use that gel that will harden your hair (like Pro-Style).

yes its me again (calleblazinmami) just under a different sn.
Yeah it`s wierd but even though I had a relaxer I still had curly hair-kind of like your friend. I didnt relax that much though- maybe every 3-6 months. But the gel type I used was that brown protien gel. then i swithed to physique . Any time of gel will do- clear ones work best. Actually now I use white peoples gel (lol yes- i call it that) but it has a really nice way of defining and smoothing the hair without flaking up. Once again- make sure it`s alcohol free. To be honest, the only thing that worked on my curly styles was white products- even the shampoos. I dont know why. But i made sure they dont contain alcohol- otherwise its a dry itchy mess.
