Hello all At the end of may I''''m going to Spain for 2 months. One of the things that I''m concerned about is whether or not they'll have relaxer over there. If they don't is there anything I can do about my new growth. It''''ll be a long time in between perms and I don''''t want my relaxed hair to break off. Thanks!

As I understand it Spain does not have a large black community but there are some black people in the larger cities like Madrid and Barcelona.
I know there are a group of black people who have been living in Spain for hundreds of years known as the "Black Moors" a group of black folks that have been in Spain since the Middle Ages and are still there today.
I am sure they have their own beauty salons and areas of stores where you could buy products.
My guess is , like in most countries around the world, the larger cities are where you would have the most luck, in the international neighborhoods which are found in most major cities.

I lived in Berlin, Germany for five years. It is very difficult to get your bearings and locate products in many foreign cities. Do you really want to waste time trying to find a place to get hair care products? Take some along.

I am going to take some hair care products w/me...However, I don't know if I can slug around a huge container of relaxer. Plus, I've never applied it myself.

Hi
I just got back from Barcelona. Although it is more multi-cultural than I expected, I did not see one black person. I travelled a lot on the Metro, and during the peak rush hours - no black people.
The "moors" that the poster above referred to, are mainly those of North African origin and are concentrated in Andalucia, in the south of Spain. Their hair is curly/wavy but not as 'tight' or 'kinky' as true afro hair - they do not tend to relax their hair as far as I know.
I suggest you take do-it-yourself home treatments, unless you are prepared to fly to Paris for a perm on a regular basis.

That's funny...when my dad went to Madrid, he said he saw a great deal of black people...I don't know...Anyways, I guess I could go to Paris to get my hair done. I could take the eurorail right? Only thing I would have to worry about is sepaking french (i don't).
