I have been agonizing over if or not I should start taking supplements because I thought they would be too much money and may not even work that well.
Last year I basically stepped up my hair maintainence by washing my hair once a week instead of two weeks to a month.
I was told my who life by the women around me that it was important to wash you hair only one a month and use lots of grease or my hair would fall out. I t was very difficult for me to make that big step and I got a lot of criticism for my family.

I also started to use a seamless wide tooth comb to detangle my hair which was also criticized my family. Their argument is that how are you going to get all the dead hair out. I would tell them that most of the hair I comb out with the smaller comb (and it was a lot of hair) was breakage and I want to leave it on my head.

I also started deep conditioning with homemade egg yolk. mayo, aloe, and oil treatments and then later added K-pak hair reconstructor to the mix.

with in a couple of months I noticed less breakage. I also used some oils to lock in moisture. I also read Cathy Hawse book and the Curl Talk Book by Ouidad.
Between the two I decided to go with Hawse regimen for a while.
It has been a year now and I have been growing my hair natural and its only about 3"to 4" in some areas.
This year I have decided to that I will take hair supplements like formula 37 and there is another supplement what I am going to take and I will get the name later. I also will drink more water (and least 6 glasses) and leave the deep conditioner in for 30 minutes. I have also reread Ouidad's book and decided to reduce the use of oils on my hair and stick with trying to nourish, moisturize and protect my hair. Oils tend to clog the cuticle, which prevents moisture form getting. All it is good for is to keep the moisture in. It is also too heavy and is pretty similar to grease. I don't want to get rid of it all together but I only will use it as a finisher after I have moisturized my hair using a light spray conditioner and a light all natural palmade, which are "wet like"(moisture) but have humectants. Her book has a great list of ingredients to look for and avoid. I also discovered that my hair was fine and delicate and not course like I've believed for a while now.
I am also going to make my own deep conditioner with aloe, egg, protein powder (or milk powder), but I have not decided if I will put any oil in it or not. I also massage my hair with L'anza scalp treatment before I add the deep conditioner to stimulate my scalp. I think maybe I will stick with this regimen.

Hey girl, my name is Tisha. I was thinking the same thing about using Formula 37. I made a list of the ingredients and I'm going to compare it to the ingredients in other supplements. My hair has been natural since 2001 and it was growing in good until the last few months when it started breaking. This is what I started doing and it's working: I shampoo once to twice a week with Creme of Nature detangling conditioning shampoo for dry hair (green and white bottle), I deep condition my hair for 30 minutes with a heating cap using Motions CPR conditioner, every other week I deep condition my hair with a protein treatment with Extreme or Climatress from Redken, I use Motions leave-in conditioner, I wait 2 minutes and then apply Motions oil moisturizer and let my hair air dry.

When I decide to press my hair I brush (using a plastic brush with ball points) ultra sheen creme satin press through my hair after the moisturizer then I allow my hair to air dry. I apply alittle of the ultra sheen in my hair then I press it. I leaves your hair silky soft from roots to ends.
