Hello all! I recently went on a website recommended by another board member and one of things mentioned on this website was how bad shampoo can be for your hair. I understand that the website owner made it a point to talk about shampoos that had sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate will essentially kill the hair, but what about the ones that don't have it in the shampoo? As comsumer allowed to use those w/o worrying? Thanks

Shampoo ingredients you should avoid like crazy: Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate. and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Instead, look for Sodium Laureth Sulfate which is a lot less harsh and is often referred to as SLES (can be found in Paul Mitchell, Redken, Herbal Essences, others. be sure to doublecheck the label because this is not a sure list.) Be careful not to overlook this gentle ingredient just because it looks almost identical to SLS.
Good luck Anais

I shampoo once a week with sally's generic version of Aussie Mega Shampoo and i love it. I don't really subscribe to no-pooing although it works for many naturals. I rinse my hair daily in the shower, apply leave-in conditioner and fingerstyle. I shampoo and deep condition weekly. I haven't trimmed in 5.5 months but i will be doing that on monday along with coloring. Conditioning is very important and should be done at least once daily-sometimes more if needed. If i use oil- i usually do it at nite. I like coconut, jojoba, dabur amla, vitamin e and shea butter.
