I have never used clarifying shamppo, but I heard that once in a while it's good to really clean the hair with. Does anyone use it and if so how often and what brand? I have also heard that apple cider vinegar gives the same affect.

I use it once a month. i use herbal essences purifying. Sometimes I use apple cider vinegar. I'm having a problem though it's the time when I clarify but my scalp is itching so I was going to use selsun blue and I'm about to do a protein treatment for the first time and the beauty supply lady gave me a shampoo to go with it. So do I use all 3 shampoos or just 1 or 2? If so which 1 or 2? Also people say that protein makes your hair hard and you should follow it with a deep conditioner. What if I have a protein moisturizing conditioner do I still need to follow with a deep conditioner? If so would Wella Kolestral work as a deep conditioner?

I'm not sure Layla. Is your scalp itching from danderuff? I was told if your hair is relaxed to never use danderuff shampoo. Maybe I was told wrong but it's suppose to be very drying and strips your hair of the natural oils. Clarifying does the same too. (Again, I could be wrong.) I would like some other people to respond to this because I think what I would do is maybe a scalp massage with oils like peppermint and tea tree oils that help with itching and danderuff before doing a protein treatment. But, follow up with a moisturizing conditioner. However, i don't know why your scalp is itching so I can't really offer precise advice.

I clarify once a month with John Frieda Relax Total Clarity Shampoo to remove any product build-up from my hair and scalp, as well as exfoliate my scalp.
