When I first started relaxing my hair a couple of years ago i would only loosen the curl. Then I decided to get it straighter and relaxed all my hair over (I think this caused breakage and split ends). Now my hairstylist said that my ends are too coarse (they are curly and the top half of my hair is a lot straighter). She said the next time I touch up my roots to put some relaxer on my ends. I use phytospecific relaxer and it works great but I dont' want to mess up my hair by applying relaxer to already relaxed hair. Should I do it? Should I put it on my roots and then in the last few minutes put it on my ends or will it totally mess up my hair? ------------- Type: 3c/4a Natural Current Length: 6" Goal: Healthy, tip of nose /neck/shoulder length hair. I wouldnt put it on my ends. If it has already been processed, I wouldnt redo it. You can cause more harm than good going that route. If you don't want the curly ends, maybe you should trim them as you go along with your touchups. ------------- Natural BC May 9, 2004 |

I wouldn't advise overlapping your relaxer. That could cause serious damage to your hair and result in breakage. Only apply your relaxer to the new growth. Definitely keep up with your trims, and if you're concerned about loosing length, you can have your stylist do dusting trims. ------------- "Courage is grace under pressure." - Ernest Hemingway |

Sounds like you have really damaged your natural hair with chemical relaxer. I hope you find a better stylist.
