I have had a problem two of the three times that I've recently had a relaxer touch-up. I get an unbearable tingling up and down my spine and I feel like my nerves endings are super sensitive. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of it? I am considering alternatives....I know relaxers aren't the healthiest for my hair- but I enjoy the resulting appearance.
Thank you for any help.

Do you have scratches or abrasions on your scalp? If you do, then they chemicals of the relaxer could be seeping in. As a result, you could get a bad bad blood infection or skin infection and you may want to stop. Anyway, for the most part, it's not a normal side effect that your experiencing and would advise you to change products or eliminate them all together.

Thanks for the prompt response. I found out that it is a reaction to medication that I am taking. I was taking something similar the first time, and had the side effect. The second time, I had ended taking the medication and was about to begin a new one- no side effects. I've just begun a new medication to replace the old one, and thus side effects this third time. I believe that I will have to find an alternative style!

since you so admire the straight hair look, consider using a curling iron on stretched out hair. Gold n Hot is effective on medium settings. There is also Jilbere ceramic which is more gentle.
yes, chemicals can be so dangerous. natural hair is safer and there are lots of styles available.
