Okay yall, here's the deal. I want to buy a quality flat iron that will get my hair extremely straight. I've heard a lot about the ceramic flat irons and went to Folica.com and researched and read some of the reviews. I've narrowed my choice down to either the Solia or the Sedu. If anybody has used either of these flat irons I'd appreciate your opinion as far as which gets your hair straighter, which one lasts longer (I'd like to be able to straighten my hair only once a week after I wash it, maybe twice at the most and have the straight style last all week), or a comparison of the two if you've used both. Right now I'm leaning towards the Solia, only because it's a few dollars cheaper. Any info or advice is appreciated.

I haven't used any but I've heard that Sedu is better than most irons.

Sorry, I don't know about the Solia or the Sedu but I use the Maxiglide and it makes my hair super shiny & straight. In fact, it makes my hair so straight that I now only take five minutes and do big sections at a time so my hair will have a little body. Otherwise it is too straight.

Kim J, what is your hair type and where did you purchase the Maxiglide? I have yet to try a flat iron but would like to.

The Solia is really excellent, but I don't think you'd go wrong with either iron.

Honeydoo,
I have a few different textures on my head but it is mostly 4a. My hair is natural and I don't have any chemicals. I have used this flat iron many times on others with 3b through 4b hair and the results are the same. It has the same effect on all hair types I have tried it on up to and including 4c.
I got it here: http:// - http://www.maxiusbeauty.com/ - http://www.maxiusbeauty.com/

For the people voting for Sedu, do you really think it's worth the extra money? That thing costs over $100. I could never see myself spending that much for a flat iron.

I just received my Sedu flat iron-- 1-1/2 -- and I like the way it heats up super fast (25 seconds) one pass thru gets the hair straight. I didn't get the super shiny results I usually get with my old WIGO flat iron, but then I realized that I forgot to use my smoother/heat protectant (Matrix) and my biosilk therapy. The next time I do my hair I will and I will let you know. Also, the flat iron is super light and glides really easy -- none of the occassional snags that pull out hairs that I usually experience. After one use, I would say I am leaning toward this being a purchase well worth the money.

I use FHI ceramic iron with the red plates. I think it was originally $200.00, but I got it for around $140.00. I love it. I use it about once a week, and I love the way it glides through the hair so smoothly. Hands down, the best! I did wash my hair last night and used my smoother and biosilk and WOW! I got so many complements today. I can't speak to other flat irons except WIGO/ jilbere and Sedu and I am very satisfied with my Sedu purchase. HTH
