I’m growing my hair out, so twice a week I wash my hair using Creme of Nature shampoo for dry/damaged hair. After washing it I condition it using Creme of Nature conditioner mixed with Elasta QP Intense Fortifying conditioner. I Leave that in for about an hour, or sit under a hooded dryer when I have time. When I rinse I put Elasta QP mango butter on the ends, and Oil recovery moisturizer all through my hair. I usually either twist or braid it and let it air dry. I leave it wavy or crinkly unless I am going out some place, and want to look nice. If I want it to look nice I flat iron it, and flip the ends out slightly, to get kind of a choppy layers effect, (the style its currently cut in). When I flat iron I spray the ends with Ion anti-frizz solutions heat Protection straightening iron spray. and sleep with my hair tied up. I stopped wearing a du-rag, because I noticed a spot where my hair was thinning in the back where I tied it. So now I just stick to a satin bonnet, It claims to have sone hair growth properties, but I doubt it does. Does anyone think there is anything else I could add to my routine to help grow my hair out?

Maybe a natural oil added to dondtioners and after you put your products in will help to keep your hair more moisturized and make it shinier.

Have you tried doing conditioner washes? When I wash my hair 2 times a week, sometimes, the first day I will wash with conditioner mixed with a smallamount of oils. THe next wash that week, I use shampoo and then conditioner.

Hi I'm new so bare with me. IMO I think you are using too much stuff. And don't keep your conditioner in for a hour. My hair grows like a weed. I find the less the better. Stop using shampoo to wash your hair, I know it sounds nutty but it works. Use it if your hair is SUPER DUPER DIRTY but most of the time just use your conditioner. Most shampoo's are too harsh for our hair even our type of hair shampoo. I cut all of my hair off a few years ago. It was real short. crew cut short. I found it was a pain to keep short hair. You got to cut every other week and stlye it every day. So I decided to let it grow. I did what you were doing to no avail. I just got fustrated because it got to a certain length (the length you can't do anything with of course) and it just stopped. I had a lot of hair but it was not growing so I looked like little orphan annie. I was told leave it alone. Well I did and it grew. I was suffering for a few weeks but I saw it was working. I have very dry hair too. Also check to see if any of the products you are using have alcohol in it . Get rid of the ones that. Alcohol should only be used for hand Sanitizers and wounds, oh and maybe to take a nip now and then but not hair. And lastly it is going to take a long long time. Don't get frustrated. Believe it or not no matter what type of hair we have it all grows at the same rate. It is the breaking off the over prossessing, putting too much product on, using harsh products like shampoo that damages our hair so it breaks off, every time we comb it Leave it alone it will grow.

cmesweet Thank god I saw some one else who doesn't use shampoo that much. Nobody believes me when I tell them. I find it really works and my hair is softer.

Yeah , but I do use a gentle soap called Dr. Bronners from the health food store. That is my shampoo, u can dilute it and its multipurpose. But when I run out of it, im going to just condition wash. My hair has grown pretty fast.

you may want to try to use a leave in conditioner. I like the NTM Silk Touch Leave-In Cream. I have to agree also with the conditioner washes.

if u do not want to use a shapoo because it can be harsh to hair, why not try using a organic shampoo. they have no chemicals. you should get one that is 100% organic

well, I guess I don't really need to add anything, except maybe some oils. I have no problem with the shampoo. I don't know how I would feel not using it. I will try a conditioner wash though. thanks.
