WHat are some good hair moisterizers that can be used after you condition and on a daily basis that's not too heavy on my ends. Note: I have fine hair. Someone mentioned hair butters, oil...please include the brand. Thanks in advance! -------------

EVOO Sweet Almond Oil Coconut Oil Elasta QP Mango Butter **this maybe to heavy for your fine hair. Shea Butter I haven't tried these but I know some people that like them. I stopped using elasta qp recovery oil moisturiser because it has minerla oil and after using it for soemtime, my hair started breaking. i now use Africa's best oil moisturiser with shea butter and tea tree oil. it light and doesnt weigh down my hair. My hair is also fine. Jojoba oil is also good. And Neutrogena Triple Moisture serum ------------- |

I've noticed a few people saying they use "white products" like Aussie, suave, and vo5. I have tried a few of these products, and found they leave my hair dry, it feels stripped. My hair dresser said the ph in them was too high for african american hair, and was striping it of any oils or moisture it had. does any one else experience this? ------------- http://lilypie.com">

CEBNN, I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. Suave made my hair fall out twice b/c I used it when I got out of the swimming pool and it didn't moisterize or it stripped my hair of it's natural oils. -------------

Cebnn, I think it depends on your hair texture. I know for myself, I can use the Vo5 conditioners but not the shampoos and I don't touch Suave. I have found that most of the lower-priced brands make a lot of products that look similar but are completely different in how they make my hair feel. Suave and VO5 both make conditioners that make my hair feel marvelous and conditioners that I can't imagine anybody liking. Right now I clean my hair with Suave Daily Clarifying conditioner, then use Suave Humectant, and follow it with Pantene. Clearly, your mileage may vary. -------------

i'll give you a website with great organic hair butter. www.freshlymade.biz it's like $28 for 13 0z. but 13 0z will last you a long time, as a little goes a long way. I'm using it at nite as a nitely moisturizer and my hair loves it. I also use a variety of hair butters that i purchased off ebay. do a search for sal, avocado, cocoa, shea and another type of butter that you are looking for- yous hould be able to find some reasonable deals. ------------- Me and you, your cousin and your momma too rollin on da strip on bow's |

Aveda DAily Moisturizing Leave-in Conditioner is good for daily use...its water based, and not too heavy. and i also like Lusters (i think it was) Moister Max...i think its oil based, so its heavier...kind of like pink oil but lighter. ------------- |

| I don't use most of Suave or V05 products for my hair. It's way too stripping and it doesn't provide moisture. But I do like Suave 2-minute treatment. That stuff is pretty good in my book. Basically folks with oily scalp and fine hair might like those lines better. |

| I like the Pantene relaxed and natural daily oil cream for a good moisturizer. It leaves my hair feeling soft and works well with braids. I also like Dark and Lovely Almond Rain oil mist which is good for relieving dryness and has a nice scent. TBC lite hair and scalp conditioner is good (the gel kind); it leaves my hair feeling moisturized for a long time and is good on my scalp. |

A moisturizer that would be good is Salerm 21 or Elasta QP Mango Butter. These products are great and light. I also use African Gold Moisturizer mixed with Fantasia IC Hair Polisher. ------------- 100% Natural BC - 4/21/07 Love All Gods' Creatures |

I'm with sista! ORS Olive Oil is the BEST!!! I came across it because my mom was going to throw it out. I tried it and was in love with it. I use it almost everyday. I just bought some products yesterday to make a my own mixture. In it I have Shea butter, Carrot oil,vitamin E, and Jojoba oil. Hopefully this helps. I will let you know what happens ------------- "God makes no mistakes" he created you the way you are suppose to be. |

I have experienced this also. I haven't tried Aussie(was thinkin about it) but Suave and VO5 seem to be too drying on my hair. But i wouldn't say all products that aren't african american products are bad. I've had good results from Dove, Fructis, Thermasilk, Finesse and Pantene. ------------- |

umm....its whatever works for your hair. i buy anything that works, either made for AAs or white people. no biggie. my hair loves V05 conditioners. also, its the same companies that make these products. take a look at elasta QP and kenra. its actually the same company. and elasta QP is marketed towards blacks and kenra is marketed towards whites and can only be found in hair salons............

That actually makes sense about the PH level and it can make a big difference. But, I definitely think it is specific to the individual more than to any group (ie AA or caucasian). It is helpful to know what PH level works for you. Porosity Control Conditioner which is PH4.5 is great on my hair. When I try any new product that mentions PH level, I compare to Porosity Control. If it's the same, then I know it will also work for me. The downside though is that most products do not list their PH levels. I recently began using Terax Hydrate (leave in) because it's PH 4.5. I love it. CEBNN, what drugstore conditioners seem to work for you? I also have not had much luck with Aussie, VO5 or Suave (although it has been a few years since I tried these). I recently used Got2B So Smooth One Minute Emergency Repair Creme and that worked well (week before relaxer, hair very thick, lots of new growth). It detangled well, moisturized, reduced breakage & shedding. It may be too heavy for some and feels like it could coat the hair. I rinsed extra well and when it dried, my hair felt great. I have to use a few more times to see if I really like it. Oh, also used Hollywood Carrot Oil (on ends) and loved it! Thank you all for recommending light oils for moisturizing hair. It is just what my hair needed & I was so surprised at the difference it made. |

I like to use S-Curl on my hair for daily moisture. I spray a little on in the morning and distribute it well, comb through and I'll either wear my hair in a bun or hanging down. It dries by the time I get to work, which is 30 minutes later (after I've styled my hair and gotten dressed). afrolatina, I like the Got2B Emer. Repair creme also. It works great for me and my hair responds well to it. I also like the Breakthru anti-breakage system by SoftSheen Carson. It's a 3 step sys w/ fortifying moist. shampoo, Revitalizing deep cond. & moist. Strength lotion/Heat strengthing creme. I actually found this @ my dollar store! Works great -stop breakage & makes my hair very soft & moisturized. ------------- ~~  LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE!~~

I use suave and white rain conditioners...I mix olive oil or coconut oil in all of my conditioners. Recently I had a sample of Physique hydrating curls and I really liked it but it was just one sample. My family has been using suave for years...when i had a relaxer I couldnt use suave it made my hair feel like straw. ------------- Natural BC May 9, 2004 |
