I long does hair have to be in order to micro braid? My hair is not long at all, I can braid it but I have to pinch it up real tight though, please help.

it depends on the person doing your hair...and how adept they are/much experience they have.
as long as they can grab it and hold on it should be fine, but you have to ask people to find out if its doable.
bottomline: there is not concrete length needed for everyone, it varies.

the million dollar question is how do you avoid breakage with microbraids?

I wore microbraids for 3 years in highschool, and took them out in the summer time to let my hair rest. My hair grew wonderfully it was past my shoulders in the back and almost touching them in the front, when I took them out for the last time. I didn't have my hair relaxed at the time I was wearing braids. I should have kept it that way, it broke off horriably my senior year when i relaxed, and then highlited it. I ended up with out very much hair. I guess I should have stuck with the braids huh?
