Hi,
About 5 mts ago I used a heat activated hair straightner on my hair(the type u plug in,let heat for bout 8 min clamp on your hair and pull straight, like a curling iron but instead of curling it straightens your hair)anyway I used it everyday for bout 3 weeks sometimes twice a day.Anywa I quit using it bout 4 mts ago or so and ever since my hair has been breaking at the tips and it has been thinning alot Id say it's thinned maybe 30-40% of what it was last year at this time.I have pretty straight hair as it is but a natural wave in it anyway the straightner got my hair so straight the first time I used it I got addicted to it you can say.Well Ive tried alot of things but my hair jsut seems to keep gettin thinner before i pulled this stupid stunt i had pretty thick and full hair well its thinned so much.I have teh barber trim off teh damged parts but in a matter of days its damamged agin and breakin, have I ruined my hair for life?Im a 19 yr old male and Im worieed that Im lsoing my hair.I dont have baldness or thinning hair in my family and I dont wear ball caps so that aint the problem some guy told me it could be a change in hormones or soemthing like that but I dont know if that would casue all my hair to thin? Its not jsut thinning in the area i used the straighener bt it seems to me its thinning all over my head, what can i do im thinkin bout jsut cutting it all off and starting over i dont wanan but i think im going to have to,should I do that,if so will it grow back thick and full like it used to?I tried these formual 37 pills i took 2 bottles of step 1 and 2 but they havnet helped nothing is i dont know what to do..ive stressed myself so much over this Im sure thats also causign it to thin but i dont know what else to do..will my hair keep thinning like this?

I just want my old hair back!!! :-(

Chris,

You might consider going to a doctor and getting a check up. Hair Loss can be caused by a lot of physical factors. Poor diet, stress, using harsh products on your hair, etc. The first rule is to be good to your hair. Discontinue use of all styling products, hair dryers, straightners, curling irons, etc. Eat a well balanced diet. Get good sleep. Reduce your stress levels. Take a good hair vitamin formula, such as Hair Formula 37. And last but not least be patient. It can take several months do undo the damage that you can cause in just a few days.

Hope that helps...

Best Wishes...

Jeff,
Tthnks for replying I have a few more questions for you..i eat a poor diet Ill admit that now what would u recommend I should eat, like give me your defintion of a "good diet".
Also I do stress alot about this problem,I told my doctor and he made me get a test on my thyroid because he thought that could be a problem but the tests said everything was normal and o.k. so I guess it's not that. You also mention get good sleep, how many hours do you recommend I should get a night?
I quit using the straightner I'd say 5 mts. ago but the problem still is there. Is it true that it could take up to a year for this problem to fix itself?Should I wash my hair everyday? If i don't wash it a day it's really oily feeling and just doesn't feel well..is that good for my hair?

Hi Chris. Try going to www.longerhair.com and going to the Hair Loss and Hair Growth tips page, they have a list of foods that have vitamins that are important for hair growth. It also tells you how to massage your scalp which will help alot also.

Hi Kimmy,
Thanx for replying to my post. I went to the page you suggested and it is a nice page.I went to the diets and stuff, and looked at the massages tips.See I've worried myself so much over my hair problem I think I have at 19 yrs.old given myself a receeding hairline. Now I never ntocied it before but I never cared so much about my hair as I do nnow.My mom and grandma says it is not a receeding hairline..but it is my regualr hairline the way my hair grows..and I wanan beleive them but at the same time I think they are saying it to amke me feel better i dont think they would do that, but is there anyway for sure I can tell if it is my hairline or if it is a receeding hairline? Also if you read my first post Im really worried that Im losing my hair cuz everytime i rub my hands throguh it 2 or 3 pieces fall out and when i brush it like yesterday i brushed it and 8 pieces fell out,Ive been told its possibly a hormonial problem whcih i pray it is cuz i kinda ruined my hair with a heat activated straightner bout 5 mts ago and i dont think that woul do so much long term damage to it at least i hope it wont cause me to lose my hair..but Im drivng myself nuts cuz i know my hiar has thinned id say maybe 10-20% of what it was last yr at this time and it's driving me crazy becuase I cant figure out why...

You might have really damaged your hair using the straighting iron, and it could just be breaking off.
