Hi, about 3 months ago I did the TR & I had very light brown highlighted hair that was very far from my naturally dark brown color..I hated the fact that my roots began to show and I had this horrible light brown with tons of highlights that began to look very brassy so to avoid my hair being too dry I waited a month before coloring..I finally got my hair colored @ the same place as I did the TR, the color was a dark brown and I was very pleased that my hair was much more natural looking..However, about 3 weeks to a month later the highlights and light brown began to show through again! My hair is now a very brassy color and has tons of gold in it, I've been using "Shimmer Lights" shampoo to rid my hair of the brassyness and although this works I'm now having the same problem with the light color and my dark roots..ever since the TR my hair seems to be eating up color, should I try and color it again? Is there anything I can do to keep the rich dark brown color so I don't have to continue coloring because I'm desperately trying to get my natural color back ! Any input would be greatly appreciated

Coloring hair after TR is very tricky, especially on the previously highlighted areas. Usually because they are too porous and need to be filled before application of the tint formula. Under normal circumstances, human hair colour depends entirely on the presence of melanin.
I find Redken’s Shades EQ and Revlon’s “Avance” colour products work really well on my TRd client’s hair. I used to use Shades EQ and now switched to Avance. These are somewhat semi permanent colours, nonetheless, the damaging effects of these colours are very minimal, but you really need to find a good colour technician and discuss these options.
You also need a good hair care regimen. I find Redken’s All Soft line and/or ID CARE products is a great choice for TRd hair.
TR is a fairly new service and some colour technicians are still unfamiliar with TR and its effects on the hair. (This is not their fault) You may want to ask them to look into applying the ID CARE PPT prior to the colour application. However, to become effective, PPT ID CARE must undergo heat polymerization. In other words, you need to apply heat (3 to 5 minutes) with a hot blow-dryer, and then proceed with the colour application.
