I am going to have the Chi restructuring on March 5th. My hair has been chemically straightened over 1 year ago. (professionally). My hair has also been colored with a few highlights. (not many). Here are my questions-----the 'expert' stylist that is going to do my hair, (not my regular stylist--she hasn't done the Chi, but this other stylist has done many), told me to get Redken Extreme Conditioner and use Deep Fuel once a week until the time. When I used these products yesterday, my hair was very frizzy when I blow dried it.....my hair naturally is dry, wirey, frizzy, coarse, etc. My hair is always wirey and frizzy, but seemed to be worse after using these products. I have been using Redken All-Soft for approximately 3 months now and I really like those products.
Will this be enough to treat my hair before the straightening is done? I would love to hear what you think would be the best thing for my hair. The stylist said that my hair should turn out beautiful, soft and silky, but this new stylist has never seen my wet or worked with it.

First you need to find out the chemical ingredient of the straightening product used on your hair 1 year ago. Be careful, some hair straightening chemical ingredients are not compatible to be used in conjunction with the other. http://www.verticalsinhair.com/evaluation.shtml - http://www.verticalsinhair.com/evaluation.shtml This is part and parcel of the information you can get from my Website on this topic.

Actually Redken’s Extreme Conditioner and Deep Fuel are great products as a pre TR hair care regimen. They are protein based, hence, it’ll make the hair feel dry and frizzy – this is normal. But, the prolonged use is not a good thing – they need to be balanced with moisturizing treatments. Redken’s All Soft line is great also. The hair care regimen that I offer to my TRd clients consists of Redken and ID CARE products and I always balance it according to the texture and condition of the client’s hair.

I am not sure if this will be enough to treat your hair, but it is good advice. Normally, for out of town clients I prescribe a similar hair care regimen, but I never make hypothetical promises if I had never seen your hair, wet or worked with it. Also, my pre TR questionnaire is comprised of a list of approximately 50 questions. In addition I always test the structural competency of the hair before a TR service.
