Hello, this is my first post to Hair Talk. I have had wavy/curly hair all my life and had thermal reconditioning done (Rusk, for those of you wondering) a year ago. I just had it redone, and for the most part am happy with it--except for one thing: When my roots start to grow out, I have these shorter hairs around my hair line that curl up noticeably (kind of like "baby hair" or "new hair" that are about a centimeter to an inch in length) right after I style it. If I didn't have this issue, I wouldn't need to use a flat iron, but I spend most of my styling time trying to tame these (forgive me) wild hairs. I live in Atlanta, so the humidity is no help. I'm not sure why I consistently have these little wavy hairs (you'd think they would grow out) but I do. Does anybody else have this problem? If so, can you recommend a solution?

I would appreciate any advice you can give me!

I get those too... They grow out, eventually. I found that it's all my fault I have them: I scratch around that area with my nails when I'm bored. My frizz eventually "straightens itself" after about two or three inches. (only the 2-3 inches on the end of any given strand is frizzy. This could be the case with you too.

Best of luck

There lies the rub. I'd think twice about straightening those hairline frizzies... Straightening takes out the moisture, which causes dryness and breakage. and then you'll have more annoying little mini-hairs in the long run. I don't recommend frying the little critters.

Bangs hide them nicely. Or if you have longer bang hair, you can part your hair slightly to the side instead of down the middle, and then sweep the bangs to your opposite ear. That's how I hide mine. Then you can secure it with a clip if your hair is too short to tuck back.

Best of luck
