I'm looking into getting a CHI, but can't decide which one. I don't know if I should get the 1" original, 1" thin, or 0.5". I would think that a thinner iron would make it easier to get right up to the scalp. Is that the case? If so, that would leave me with the 1" thin or 0.5". Would it take longer to straighten my hair than with the 1/2"? What's the difference between those 2 sizes in terms of use? What would make you pick one over the other? Is CHI the right way to go? They seem to get great customer reviews. Sorry so many questions, but I'm confused. Any help appreciated.

No, it shouldn't take longer to flatiron your hair with a smaller size because the number is the width, not the length. When it comes to a flat iron, the width is mostly personal taste. Yes, the wider ones will be harder to get up into the scalp, but all you have to do is lift your arms a little higher. That's it. Other than that, Get the smallest workable size and/or the average size to minimize your hair's heat exposure.
Buy the original.
